Hi Pixelate, I have a FZ 20 adaptor tube for 58mm filters that is free if you can use it. It was ordered by my wife for my FZ28 and dun fit. So it is free to a good home. I will be arriving in S/pore on Dec 18 and can pass to you if you want. No good to me, lah.

Thanks for the generous offer. ANyway, I am looking for a UV Filter to be screwed directly on to the FZ20 lens. Any idea what is the filter size? Thanks !!

I dunno what you need for an FZ 20, I would just take the camera into a shop and get one of their friendly customer service people to try one on for you.
My FZ 28 takes a 46mm filter straight onto the lens barrel but I also have an adaptor tube that screws into the lens hood adaptor ring and that allows me to use 58mm filters. I can still turn the camera off and on and zoom without anything jamming or getting stuck.
The FZers are organising an outing on Dec 21 and I can pass you the adaptor tube for the FZ20 then if you like. Final details of where and exactly when have not been made yet. If you cannot make it just PM me your address and I will post it to you when I get to S/pore.

I tried buying a 46mm-52 step up ring to use my old CIR-PL filter that I had for my old Powershot. Problem is when I retract the FZ28 lens into the barrel it gets stuck and can't go in so I had to disconnect the step-up and use it only when the lens is in the 'out' position. Should have just bought a 55mm PL filter to fit on top of the LA3, maybe it should not affect the retraction action?

ok... i had this problem also, but was solved... i'm using a FZ18... when i did not put any filter initially and straight away put the 46-52mm step up... and it got stuck (inside) but yours sound like it got stuck outside... wat you need to do is use put a 46mm UV filter at the front of the FZ before u put the step up right... actually u can just leave the uv filter there, it doesn't matter... so tat when u retract, the whole step up ring won't go very deep in... and u can use cap in with ur lens cap and walk around and prepare to shoot the next stuff

I do have a 46mm MC protector screwed on in front of the lens at the moment. The step-up ring was added on to the MC filter and it still got stuck (you're right!) on the outside trying to retract back in...:dunno:

hmmm... thats kind of strange... fz 18 and fz 28 should be about the same... my guess is tat is could be the step up ring tat is too big...

Thanks for your kind gesture. Anyway, I am looking for uv Filter to be mouonted directly on the FZ20 lens however, I am unable to determine the actual mm size. Any idea? Thank !!
