450D or 1000D?

just wanna check are canon lens(compare apple to apple). more expensive than other brand like Nikon ,Pentax,Sony?

There are sticky threads with the prices for you to compare at the respective brand forums.
Do bear in mind that it is seldom apple to apple comparison as a more expensive lens may be sharper than a cheaper one, etc.

Canon lenses are competitively priced against the other brands and generally not more expensive, although they are cheaper in other countries.

I think the 450D is definitely a better deal now. 1000D is priced at 1099 and 450D is priced at 1299 at Harvey Norman. 450D is going for 1199 at Challenger.

Good luck with your cam. Looks like most people are favoring the 450D. As of now, the votes for 450D has reached 83.28%.I was going to get either one but the 5D2 was announced. So waiting to try out the 5D2, meantime shooting with other bodies.

Why don't you just forgo the lighter body(450D/1000D) and have a 5DMk2 with amazing lenses? Or perhaps a compact like the G10 or Sigma DP1

I chose 1000D because I didn't need:

1) The extra 2MP (I hardly ever print any of my photos)
2) 0.5" bigger LCD screen (The screen is just to preview photos)
3) Spot metering (I have it on all my PnS cameras. If I didn't ever use it, I guess I can live without)
4) 3.5fps for jpeg (VS 3fps on the 1000D, doesn't seem to matter much)
5) Infrared sensor (In the event I really need wireless remote, I can get a radio remote then)

And the fact that it is cheaper. I got more spare cash to buy better lenses and other accessories.

Got everything i wanted. I'm a happy 1000D user

after all its the pic that matters rather than many specs you are focusing into i guess

if were to think of specs i guess even 450D is out of our choice,
then 40D/50D/D300...or even higher end will be even more better choice than a SD card DSLR of ours.

moral of the story

"buy either one and shoot"

i agree with you.. i had the option of buying a new 1000d.... in the end, decided to buy from my friend instead @ $750..... coz friend friend, he upgrading to 50d... :bsmilie:

You should go down to vivocity(canon showroom near GV vivo) and try out both camera. Nobody will bother you there,...try and see which one you like more in term of the weight ,the feel, ergonomic of the camera..

I dont have 1000d but i can said 450D is a very capable camera if you know how to utilise it ...

I choose 450D cause it fits my hand better....
