The viewfinder now displays all key exposure information including ISO speed.

This is what I've been waiting for!
I always shoot in the wrong ISO!

i think someone from somewhere try before

can't remember how, use lens mount adaptor

fit in-body + is lens together

end up become even more unstable than not having anything at all :bsmilie:

Unfortuantely this is not a 1+1=2 deal. Then lens and body need to communicate about the compensation status.

Simpliest way is to activate only 1 of them first, let it drift until hit the boundary and the other gets a signal and start drifting, while keeping the 1st locked. This way, the effective maximum shift gets doubled. Alternatively, both can work at half-shift speed - but this may not be easy to implement.

My sentiments too:)

BTW,are u Parka from sgforums?:bsmilie:

The 450D is Canon's attempt to reclaim the entry level DSLR, and it looks good!
Live View, SD, 3" LCD, 12 MP, new batt. These are bells aimed at PnS users upgrading to DSLR.
If you already own a 400D, you probably wont upgrade to 450D, but to a 40D or FF cam.

eh .. y do u say tat ? isnt 450d much better than 400d ? The specs seems alot better

few would sell their 400D, Batt grip, CF cards and upgrade to 450D, buy new SD cards, batt grip to obtain the better specs.

Hence, its really a choice for new owners buying their 1st dSLR, which they will have to decide between which memory card camp :)

This "ohhh.... it uses SD cards" bitchin.......

You spent over 1k for a camera but can't afford another 30 bucks for a memory card???

:dunno:i dun get it
how come the 450D is cheaper then the current 400D???
then the 400D in 2nd hand value will be vy low...
but how low?

that's the market trends. The newer gadget will be higher specs (rather than say it's better) and cheaper than the existing one. There is no end of waiting.....for better and cheaper.

just buy whatever is right at that point of time and use it as much as u can.

450D sure looks good to me. :)

if compared to the 30D, would it still survive the latest 450D onslaught

There are some things the xxxD series cannot fight with the xxD series when it comes to user interface. The 2-digit series wins in:
- Bigger and brighter viewfinder (glass prism is brighter)
- Quick Control Dial and the 5-way joystick
- Faster overall operation (lag time, continuous shooting speed, viewfinder blackout time, etc.)
- Better feel in the hand (bigger grip and better build, but also heavier :()

In terms of capability, the entry-level series does not lag behind the prosumer series by a lot. However, once you take into account the above, the ~$700 difference is worth it, and a lot of serious hobbyists will appreciate those features.

The 450D is a capable camera, no doubt, and I recommend it heartily to anyone who want to try out photography with a DSLR. Best bang for the buck for those who want to spend rationally.

 to 450D

Now my gf is itching to buy a 2nd hand 350D when owners make the switch.

It's good that there are progress in the xxxD group, but I agree with Ah Pao, I won't upgrade to 450D from 400D, I rather go for 40D or 5D. I remember playing with 30D after I got my 400D and though the 30D is older, it still feels better than the 400D. Selling 400D and getting 450D - I rather get a new lense.

As a current 400D user, I won't upgrade.
Well, I don't use the camera that much.

And 400D in itself is a very decent camera any day.

alright, im gg to play the devil here

I'm not upgrading from the 400D to 450D. the CF - SD transistion is a real turn off. plus i dont think the new features are that big a draw

1) 12.2mp - more noise? if so, no thank you.
2) improved 9 point AF - no complaints abt the 400D's one now. its the same one as the 30D which i find adequate
3) liveview - used a 40d on quite a few occasions...never used it
4) new batt and batt grip - walaueh...extra cost

just my 2 cents.

Digic III handles noise much better the Digic II, therefore you should get the same noise control as 400D but at a higher resolution.;)

anyone knows what the price of 450D going to be?

The control dial and joystick are the main reasons I won't get a xxxD. Otherwise, it will be a good backup to bring overseas since it is lighter and smaller than its sibblings :(

REMEMBER THE FILM DAYS

In the old days of FILM, the difference in price between the entry level EOS (say the 500)and the EOS1 was about $2,000

For $2,000, you got
- Bigger, better-built body
- Faster shutter (FPS) and shutter lag
- Better AF and metering

There was no sensor and you could use any type of film in the cheapest and most expensive cameras. People were willing to pay for these differences.

In the DSLR world, at least you get more differences - sensor, write speeds, buffers, WB controls. Of course, the price differentials have increased.

hmmm... but i find a feature in the new 450D rather useful, that's the self timer for continous shots.
even my 40D cant do it. sian.

I am also quite interested in this particular function. ;)
But I think you can do the same by getting TC-80N3 for 40D. :)
