SD cards again.. what a turn off.

it deters those who already own higher end bodies from getting a small light travelling/backup body. :(

this will lead to an increase of sales of 2nd hand CF cards in the b&s section ;)

Pricing is expected to be US$799 (body only) and US$899 (with 18-55 IS)

which translates to.. about S$1154 and S$1298 respectively.. expect the street prices to be much lower though :)

Of course, prices in Singapore tend to be higher than the direct converted US price... especially with the current exchange rate.

wow .. 450d has so much more better features than the 400d and its cheaper ?

OMG... It's so cool with those curves !!! Hmmm more reasons to switch, haha !!! :bsmilie:

more justifiable than the 400D for upgrading....from 400D and below....

:dunno:i dun get it
how come the 450D is cheaper then the current 400D???
then the 400D in 2nd hand value will be vy low...
but how low?

alright, im gg to play the devil here

I'm not upgrading from the 400D to 450D. the CF - SD transistion is a real turn off. plus i dont think the new features are that big a draw

1) 12.2mp - more noise? if so, no thank you.
2) improved 9 point AF - no complaints abt the 400D's one now. its the same one as the 30D which i find adequate
3) liveview - used a 40d on quite a few occasions...never used it
4) new batt and batt grip - walaueh...extra cost

just my 2 cents.

The 450D should focus a lot faster than the 400D, since it's DIGIC III right?

I've used a 40D and a 400D before, the former's AF is noticeably faster, albeit both being very fast already.

DIGIC III is just the image processor. It doesn't make a difference to the AF which is control by the AF module. :)

Ah,thankfully marketing tactics decreed that the specs wont be better than older double digit series',if not i gonna dump my 30D for the 450D:sweat:

Why is SD card a turn off?

because you cant share cards if you are using a xxD cam..
i too was looking forward to this 450D release as i find my 30D a little too big on casual hiking trips.. but thats only me.. :sweatsm:

I see I see. Anyway I think I'll be getting this for my backpacking trip to Europe end of this year. Hope it will be cheaper by the summer. :D

Come on guys. SD cards are a lot cheaper, in fact I like the change although both CF and SD works for my current 1DM3.

What's important is the speed of download for me, so long it is fast and reliable, I don't really care what memory card to use.

Whether 450D is noisier than 400D is still a question but since it is run on 14bit, in terms of contrast and colors it is already a plus point.

I wonder what is the resolution of the LCD screen? Will it be 230K still or 920K?

Yeah, SD cards will definitely make transition to dSLR easier.

Canon P&S are SD cards, too.

There's a niffy WiFi SD, as well.

its still 230k on a 3" LCD..

its really not much a difference even tho the screen gets bigger but the resolution remains.
hard to see whether its pics are sharp or accurate.
