Hi all,

I currently own a Nokton 40mm 1.4 SC and Summicron-C 40mm in which i might use on a Leica body (if i can amass together what little money i have!)

I know that the flanges of the lenses can be filed down to bring up the 35mm framelines on say a Leica M6, but has anyone tried it before? And is there a professional in Singapore that can do it? (i dont want to ruin my lenses with my butterfingers!)

Another question, will it bring up the 35mm framelines on a Zeiss Ikon as well?

Thanks all!

Looking to convert my Nokton 40mm with merelyok too, if anyone here has done, please give your advice, thanks a lot. Does Camera Consultant offer this service?

I've seen some people done it with success, DIY. And also seen some have resulted in scratched rear lens.

But u have to consider, selling a mod lens MIGHT not bring you a good resale value later on. I say MIGHT. There might be some who specifically look for lens that have been mod. Like some connoisseurs over here... :)

But if you intend to keep the lens till end of time, then this doesn't really matter to you. :)

Of cos... it will void warranty once you do it. :)

I love my 40mm too much to sell it, its definitely going to be with me until I expire. So we're thinking of converting it cus we intend to use it on Leica bodies. I should drop by and visit Mr Tay soon :)

Just buy a 40mm viewfinder. No filing and very accurate frameline. Can use on any M mount camera body.

Cheers,

I filed my Rokkor 40/2 lens in 5 min. Works great on all M cameras. In fact, the 35mm frameline on M6 is more accurate for a 40mm lens than a 35mm.

Just do it! :)

There is always the CV 35mm f/1.4.

I filed myself my 40mm cron-c to show 35 lines. Not hard to do, only took me 15 min of slow filing using nail filer. The result of 40mm cron-c is so good and the price is incredibly low for german made glass. Its a keeper. Dont even think about selling it. So file it. I find the 35mm line is very good approx than the 50mm line it originally brings up.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be filing down my Nokton and Cron-C if i get the M6.

I filed my 40/1.4 when I first got it a couple of years back too by following some online instructions. Easy job. Main thing is to tape up areas that you do not want to accidentally scratch and get a good file.
