Anyways, 17-85mm and 75-300 are good lens for outdoor shooting because of its range. It also depends specifically what you want to shoot outdoor but with a range of 17-300 i think you are well covered.

Hi,

I'm just on a 400d but had a similar problem with extended shutter times and not storing the images. It turned out that while I was 'familiarising' myself with the camera I had set a custom setting. While on full auto camera worked OK but on any of the 'manual' modes the custom setting was envoked, once I cleared the custom setting - the camera performed as normal. Don't know if this helps but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Hoope you get it sorted OK
 

Does 10D,20D,30D owners count as well?
There aint any dedicated thread for them AFAIK

if can only choose one from your current setup, i'll take the 17-85.

if not carry on waiting for canon to develop an EF-S 10-300mm f/2.8L IS USM kit lens that cost under $1000 and weight less than 1kg!!! :D *carry on dreaming*

I have this problem with my 40D once.

I switched on the camera, it says something like this: "Sensor cleaning error, Please proceed to canon for assistance(something like that i think)"

Then i offed the camera and on it again. All was fine.

Scared the crap outta me!
