4 new Full HD Vide0 Alphas by September!!! A55, A33, A560 and A580...

Probably if you are used to A200/300/350/700/850/900, then you might be not used to it since the control dial is next to shutter release.

But for current Alpha bodies, the control dial is lower, so it's not easy to mistook it.

I agree, I've never held any of the above mentioned DSLR before... After the first week of 'fumbling' and 'feeling' the whole body, I've not accidentally switched off the camera while using the control dial since.

But I admit, I've accidentally triggered the shutter release on the vertical grip while 'gropping' the camera ie: when mounting on monopod, etc.:bsmilie:

Looks like a Sony trend, their a230/a330/a380 was on the market for even less than a year before being replaced by a290/a390.

What I find particular is why must every release have a twin ? ie: a500/a550, a290/a390, a560/a580 and a33/a55 ? ...even e-mount release also got twin ...a black and a titianium!

Are the processing chips in the camera all different? or similar?

Since Sony is a major chip developer for DSLR and can sell to Nikon and Pentax, even making both CMOS as well as CCD. Maybe they just want to experiment? Very hard on logistics and marketing, hmm customer will have alot of choices and be very decisive.

No, it's to occupy more shelf space and cover all budget segments.

Yes bro, I have the same problem, while trying to take a picture, I switched the cam off.

:o Agree. I switched from A200 to A550. I still switch off the the cam at least once every time i use. ;p

Exciting times ahead for Sony users indeed...but bad for wallet...

The new rumor:
SonyAlphaRumors is pleased to share some new details about the next cameras! Four new APS-C cameras will be announced late August. All those cameras will be in Stock by September!

1) A55 (translucent) 16MP 10FPS EVF-1.44M 1.1X magnification 95% AVCHD full hd
2) A33 (translucent) 14MP 7FPS EVF-1.44M 1.1X magnification 95% AVCHD full hd
3) A560 14MP 7FPS MF recording AVCHD full hd
4) A580 16MP 7FPS MF recording AVCHD full hd

Those models will replace the actual Sony A550 (which has been discontinued in Japan!).

All four will feature a HDR 6EV, 15 AF focus point, DOF preview, panorama/3D, ISO 100 (base). Let me say that I expect those cameras to be awesome and real competitor (if not better) of the Canon 7D. Autofocus during video recording is way faster than the Canon, High-ISO very very good and last but not least I like the new design.

... and it is still APSC.

will defer upgrade to A550 and wait for these new ones, also a7XX

... and it is still APSC.

Thats where the bucks are . FF cams are still not mainstream yet i guess. When they are mainstream , we all go , why not Medium Format, but still FF ? haha

Saw this post in dyxum regarding the a33/a55.

Note nothing is confirmed right now, take this with a pinch of salt.

Sony has the solution

you guys will be pleasantly surprised with Sonys ingenuity to solve all the problems with the translucent bodies

1- light amplifier or booster. Before the light hitting the translucent mirror it will go throw a light booster that will amplify the light to 150% so nothing will be lost by deflecting 1/3 of the light to the AF sensor and the main sensor will still have 100 percent light and we will not need to shoot with higher ISO to get the same speed

2- in case of extreme low light conditions you can switch to normal DSLR mode that will cover the translucent mirror with a normal mirror but you will lose the phase-detect AF and AF during video-graphing but on the plus side you will have half a stop more light falling on the main sensor ( I hope they will have a separate button for this and it won't be in the menu)

also there will be more pleasant surprises in these models that I'm not going to share with you now because my source will kill me but let me tell you that the new CMOS sensors in these bodies will require very little on-chip NR
