4 Base and 8 Base scanning at labs

Hi Clubsnappers. I was wondering what the 4 base and 8 base actually translates to what when it comes to scanning 35mm film at our local lab. Typically 4 base they mentioned can print up 8r.

If anybody can shed some light on the what 4 and 8 base means and in relation to the megapixels in digital format. Cuz been finding online but mostly they talk about dpi, file size and how big we can print it. That i can totally understand.

16 base is around 6MP, 4 base is around 2MP.. 4 base can print 8R? haha.. possible, if you look at the print 5 meters away. Any nearer and most people will cringe..

4 base yes, 16 base yes, but I have not come across 8 base, which labs offering this?

16 base is around 6MP, 4 base is around 2MP.. 4 base can print 8R? haha.. possible, if you look at the print 5 meters away. Any nearer and most people will cringe..

can lar,
either print at 150ppi or
upsampling in photoshop,

but no details means no details.

Apologies. Its 16base yes not 8. my bad. now i know up to which size i can print to.
