Professional crooks go for C & N camera equipment as they're easier to flog off and command better value on the second hand market. I know because my office was broken into, all the Canon L lenses were gone but my Olympus SHG lenses in another cabinet were untouched
My own experience, had a projector and a wall screen stolen (although they left the $600 spare bulb which is now useless for us), a DVD-RGB cable, my $25 tripod, and two Raynox converter lenses...definitely someone who knew what they wanted (they took a wall screen rather than a portable projector screen), but they left more expensive audio equipment (although it was rack mounted needing a screw driver, readily available since they went through my tools to grab a hammer to smash through four double locked doors).
