Does anyone knows where to buy 3rd party battery for the M cameras? Going oversea and need extra battery.

From what I've heard:
Most work on the M8.
Some don't work on the M9.
Most are usually safe.
Camera faults from unauthorised accessories voids warranty.
You must fully discharge the battery by draining it and recharging it afterwards to get the correct battery level meter in order for it to work with the camera.

Bad news. I bought it home and it didn't work with my M9P. The packaging said that it only fits Leica M8 and I thought it should also fit the M9s. So anyone got a better idea where I can get the battery for M9? I should have bought the camera down to test first. Kelvin I hope the battery work for you on your M8.

It was my mistakes. The camera didn't work because the battery was not charged. After charging, this new battery is working now.

Actually if u can afford a 10k+ camera, y save on such small amount (in comparison to the price of a M9p) and risk damaging the camera? Get the original and have a peace of mind...

Many people will ask me this same question. My answer is not about affordability. I save about $160 which I can use it to help the poor in many ways. This is what I always believe. I save for those who need more.
hi, i have one extra original and one extra 3rd party one..
from my experience.
3rd party:
Pros for M9 user: longer battery life for sure. Cheaper.
Cons for m9 user: battery meter doesnt work until u completely drain it and charge it full again. m8 doesnt have this issue i heard. but m9 definetely have this issue.. as i have it, search the internet theres alot of stuff on this.. this made me buy an original one.. and use the 3rd party as spare
the oddball of the battery meter not working is that.. u can still take pic when u have "low battery" but u will always get this message and never know whether it is out of juice until u completely drain + charge..
fears of 3rd party screwing up your m9...

Pros for m9 user: No battery meter issue as it is original. More solidly built, can feel it in my hands.. as such i do prefer the original batts i have haha.
Cons: exp.. and i mean real exp, can possibly buy 4-5 of the 3rd party one iirc. shorter battery life.

Keep using it till it drains fully, or turn on the screen (review an image) and turn off "auto off".... I believe the latter should be attempted only when the amount to drain is very low. When I first tried it, after 5 minutes I could feel the LCD screen area heating up a fair bit.
