3D or not?

Sony got 2 new handycam. PJ660 and TD30 which around the same pricing (TD30 with 64GB also price same or more than PJ660). Is it alright for me to get a TD30 if I going for a 3D TV or sticks to PJ660 for the projector? I mostly use handycam when oversea, not in local unless for family gathering. Current handycam, it's 13 yrs old and uses DV tapes, time to retire it. Still can't make up my mind on the next handycam, getting it end of next month.

3D TV is dead (again), Expect the price of 3d cameras to fall through the floor soon. PJ660 is the old PJ760 ($2000)renamed.
$1600 buys you:

best stabiliser in ANY camcorder
great low light
Mic input
Headphone jack

These are premium features. If you don't need them, you can save 50% investment.
For cinematic video quality, consider the RX100 Mk2 if your clips are seldom over 15minutes.

Got rx100 mk1. But somehow, i like to record video from bus or train journey when at overseas. I getting the 660 then, but least all in. Heh heh!

Got the PJ660 and it's was on promotion recently. Reasonable price and also, brought the new sd (80m/b) from Sandisk, works with it. I play back using window player, smooth but not on other player, idk why. Only thing worries me is that the side of the lens is "open", dust/dirt can go in easy, need to maintain. The stuffs come with the set also nice, got a lot of useful stuff but no external charger, only via handy camera. Ended up getting a 3rd party one but ok for me. :D

Can I ask how much was the offier price? I could be wrong but shouldn't the built-in lens cover (doors) be shut when you power down the camcorder?

After trade in, $1106. The door will shutdown but when recording, it's not. Once door close, the dirt will stays inside. I thought the lens is behind a piece of glass but not. :( Anyway, it's a good handy camera replacement for my DV handy camera. I been holding on my DV for 13 years, really need to put it to sleep.

Get a PJ790VE, bigger sensor and lens are great and the projector is pretty useful.

Over my budget. Pj660 is more than enough for me.

You can screw on a 52mm uv filter. It will not interfere with the built in cover but you cannot use the lenshood.

Should be 46mm. They provided a 46mm to 37mm step down ring, nice. :D

I walk back wards yesterday and recording my family members. Very stable, no jerky outcome. The stabilizer really works, good investment. :D

You've stumbled on an important steadicam technique: walking backwards is more stable! So is walking on bent knees and on the outer side of your feet.
