35mm film sleeves

Not sure whether the sleeves we buy locally can fit into the folders or not...

In my experience, not unless you buy B4 folders (but then those are massively oversized for length). 6 frames will be too wide to fit in A4, or even american letter size folders.

The problem is, with acid free sleeve is not enough, you need:

1. Archival quality sleeves
2. Archival box/file to store the sleeves
3. In dry box/cabinet or cool dry place.
4. Away from sunlight, UV

Also fill your airtight box or room with nitrogen gas.
Heeeheee

Zzzz, U all a bit too extreme liao ba. Dry cabinet in files should do quite a good job already. The only problem is the files are too small :( Wonder where can I find a B4 file...

It is not extreme if you want to ensure your work will last for at least 5 centuries. Maybe 2-3 centuries without Nitrogen gas.

The basic idea is to try and avoid placing the films with materials that can destroy it slowly over time. Sometimes having lesser (files) can be more (quality assurance).

If you are looking for the best storage boxes, these, made with Microchamber board, are it:

You can read the technical details here on Microchamber:

Most top museums in the USA use this. I also understand that Disney's Animation Research Library uses it to protect their old animation cels.

The company is quite old-fashioned in that orders are taken over the phone only, but they are very helpful and accommodating. I have had them do custom sized boxes for European size 12X16 prints, but most of their standard size products ship quickly.

The products are reasonably priced, but as always shipping is the killer. VPOST USA is the cheapest option, but always buy in bulk, as they offer volume discounts.

Thanks for the information mate!
