Hahaha, all Canon DSLR lenses are noisy, imo; so it doesn't make much of a difference to me.

Canon's USM lenses are quite silent actually. If you're on a budget then the 35 f/2 is pretty good as it's smaller than the 35L. But if you can spare a bit more then you can consider the Sigma 30 f/1.4 cos you never know when you might need to go to f/1.4, just make sure you get a sharp copy.
