any recommendations from u guys out there ? I'm getting my first DSLR soon, but still have some dilemma over which model to choose from. still deciding between 350D and 400D. pls help me....thanks :)

I'd say, get a second hand 350D if you're sensitive to price difference.

400D offers slightly better UI (2.5" screen, better display format and saving settings without having to press "SET") and better AF (but 350D AF is okay for the most).

Im using 350D, and Im very happy with it! :)

Plus, its selling real cheap now. when I got it it was $1.8K... now its only $1.2K?

i'm using a 350d n it works well to my expectations =) of course if money is not an option to u, get the 400d. otherwise a 2nd hand 350d would be my recommendation =)

If you can't decide for yourself, no one can! It's not that hard to make comparison and see what you should be paying for or missing out on if you pick one over the other. The trouble is ensuring that you're willing to pay the premium, or supposedly "lose out" if you take the cheaper version. So after you've thought it through, make your decision! =D

Don't forget that there are other brands too, not that I'm anti-Canon or what, but reading up does pull you many ways. =D

i got this feeling a newer model of 400D will be out soonz...to have lcd viewfinder...

y comin out soon? coz 400d prices r fallin? haha..n 400d came out not too long ago onli man...

400D more latest cam & more value ;)

In fact I'm helping a friend to pick a second-handed Nikon D50 although I use Canon. It's hard to beat at around 600.

the 300D also goes for around $550, and the 350D goes for only $7XX.

In fact with several D50s on sale, I'm expecting something like 550. 300D is a bit sluggish and 350D will be 200+ more expensive. With that money, my friend will get a 18-70 Nikkor for a good start.

At the end of the day, you never know what you need until tried. I moved up from 300D to 30D after about 2 years.
