get a 300D, save the difference for some lenses, and accessories.
Agree...;)
Body is just a back box to me...Enough for what I want to do is ok alraedy.
Save the money on better lens (E.G Canon L series) give you better quality pics.

I upgraded from an EOS 10D to the 350D.

The 350D has the advantage over the 10D of:

1) Faster start-up and processing time.
2) Better noise control esp. at higher ISO
3) Faster buffering
4) USB-2 output for remote capture (vs. USB1.1 for EOS 10D)
5) Smaller form-factor.

... so its a case of what's important to you - the image, or the user experience.

a friend of mine tell me to get 350D new, coz the 10D is 2 years old
350D got new technology also

hard things is new 350D is $400-500 more expensive

now i'm mainly consider 350D and 10D

Yes, 350D has new technology compare to 10D and 300D but 6 months down the road, Canon might announce it's replacement and there's even newer technology then!

10D and 300D are already very capable cameras. Chasing the latest models will be like upgrading of PC 5-6 years back. Your "latest" technology will get outdated very fast.

Get the 10D, better built quality and also superb handling compared to the 350D which I find it too small, even with the grip on. :)

get whatever you can afford. If you can afford both get the 350D. The fast startup time and the lower noise will win you over, unless you're into taking a lot of time for framing shots etc.

Although I have a 350D, I would still advice getting a 10D over a new 350D (unless a 2nd-hand 350D has a price that is sweet for you).

- Resolution-wise, the extra 2-megapixel of the 350D won't make a huge difference.
- 10D's handling is much, much better than the 350D.
- Cheaper = save money = get better lenses.
- You're a newbie, so (1) you don't make money out of your hobby, and (2) you'll either give up or upgrade to a better, newer body when you have the $$ and "worthiness".

10D is a more-than-enough body for beginners. Don't be techno-itchy. The only reason why I got the 350D is because I couldn't wait for a 10D deal to come along.

EDIT: BTW, 350D is not "just out" either. Due to be replaced later in the year, if Canon sticks to the 18-month cycle for their DSLRs.

if u got big hands/plams then i think should go for 300D or 10D for the grip

Conclusion from here: Body is most likely to go, but a good lense is here to stay.
Agree.

Keep in mind the need to cough up money for a flash(200 onwards), dry cabinet (100 onwards), memory card (100 onwards), tripod/head (100 onwards), lenses and more lenses (better don't think too far). These, excluding lenses, will cost you another 400++++. Keep that in mind.
The list sounds so familiar.
Other (smaller) items are bag/backpack, batteries, portable harddisk, software...joining paid shots :bsmilie:

correct me if i am wrong.. the 350D has the same AF mechanism as the 10D

I am not dslr user (same like u...looking at it...hahahha but not yet buying though)... but i agree that you should handle the body and try..

I handled a 300D with kit lens, the grips n weight is great for me! everything feels good. (without batt grip and flash though)

I handled an EOS 1D (or 1Ds ...think so, forgot exact model) with ext flash, is so so so heavy that i think it is falling out of my hand....

(but of cos...maybe cos I am weaker so can only handle not so heavy cam)

I agree with cheaper body and good lens for a start^^ (cam body at 350D range will drop quite a lot.... look at the price for 2nd hand 300D :>)

other than kit lens i think most will get at least these 2 additional lens and accessories (2nd hand prices):
50mm F1.8 - $100-$120
EF 75-300 USM - $200-$250

canon flash - $200 to $5xx ...depending on which one u getting (unless is Canon 380EX then is less than $200)
A good tripod - 1xx ? ...not sure about this...

SO maybe u can count the $$ needed for the accessories you are going to buy, minus it off your budget then see how much u left for body and guess that will help in making decision?

From 10D to 350D an upgrade? If it is, than a 1D to 350D also upgrade.:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

today went to the fair..handled 350D.......mmmm..... is it smaller than 300D???

Cos somehow i remember when i handle my friend's 300D the grip is good, just nice, but when I handle 350D..... seems to feel abit weird, somehow got extra space ^^|||
