Lynch. I couldn't agree with you more on this.

Have fun with you toys and lets see what we (the non 30D owners) are missing out on.

hmmm ok guys. Let's not spoil this good thread shall we? I am sure the other fella had the same thoughts as me, but perhaps, the way he wrote may -seem- not too nice. Still, its easy to misunderstand text at times.... no?

Shall we turn back to the actual thread topic? anymore, then i think this good thread could potentially be closed. I am sure its all misunderstandings.

Show us! spot metering, 3fps versus 5fps, and AI Servo!
And then i am sure the others who are as curious as me would probably be joining you guys soon as 30D owners. : )

Zzzz....Monday, the start of the week and there's already some exchanges of words in this thread. Can't there be peace? Live happy and in peace...!!!

BTW, isn't it 'pot calling the kettle black?' Or is it really 'cattle'? :dunno:

Why hammer him by saying that? He did nothing but to share the 1st photo he took with his new toy! Masterpiece or not, it doesn't matter at all.

Zack. All I asked was what was the hoo-haa ? And the person got defensive and started putting words in my mouth. So I hammer back loh, natural reflexes.

So far, this is the 1st of it's kind of CSer that I have encountered over my years in CS.

Oh, in case you didn't know those words, please go ask your English teacher or consult the dictionary..

Whacker, you are 100% right. It's kettle, not cattle.I wonder who should consult an English teacher.

Ok one thing I am curious about is, is there a way to dampen the shutter so there's less noise? Just a thought.

Hello all,

I have just got 30D for 2 days only. haven't really got much time to play with it.
I'm upgrading from 350D.

However my personal experience in the 30D are:

1. I found that the body is a big major differences since it's significantly larger than the 350D. I found it comfortable and very close to 5D feeling.
Even without the Batt grip I found it's still nice to hold the cam.

2. LCD is a very nice thing I thought at first, but what I found is that the resolution of the LCD is a concern to me. when I zoomed up the image in the playback, I found it's very unpleasant to see a very unsmooth detail (like pixelated) or is it normal due to the larger LCD?

then other thing, I found the LCD is very dim under the sunlight.
It's quite difficult to view the images correctly, often times I thougt my shots was much Over/under.

3. The shutter sound is more to a middle frequency sounding compare to 350D.
30D has a more deep sounding and quite loud actually. However I haven't use 20D before so I can't compare between the 2.

4. the 9 focus point is not wide enough compared to 350D.
It's very limiting me to take certain framing where the main object is in the far left or right. Still not used to the diamond type focus point.

5. I like the Picture style as it's giving the user more personalized settings.

Hope to hear more 30D owner for feedback.
Do u guyz feel the same or it's just me?

will update later when got more things to write. thx for reading. :bsmilie:

newmemberz,i must really apologise for disrupting your thread.I thought i would have fun sharing some stuff with you guys on the new camera but didn't expect to have some heated arguements with somebody. So sorry about that ;)

This thread started out as a simple joy sharing session among the new 30D owners but ended up with heated arguements. :dunno: Maybe the thread title should have some warnings so as not to disappoint the rest looking for detail 30D technical review.

Perhaps the photographer will called it Art or something, to say that there is an alternative view which we had not noticed.

Or was it just the camera's ability outstrip the photographer's skills. :bsmilie:

i used to confuse soft-focus with out of focus... now THAT'S art... :bsmilie:

my beginner days were just as hilarious. on the bright side... i gave some comic relief ;)

Hi newmemberz,

does your 30D program dial and main dial have any problems?
I have noticed that both dials felt quite stiff and difficult to turn compared to a 10D and 20D
The quick dial is ok, but still not as smooth and sensitive as the other models.

I am guessing, either that it is a new body so the dials need a little "oiling" or you have experienced similar "stiff-ness" in all the dials?

personally, i like the bigger lcd screen, you might like to adjust the LCD brightness to its dimmest at bright locations or get a lcd screen hood.

The diamond AF points i found takes getting used to, its complicated and takes a little practise switching to the various AF points.

overall, its a nice camera to play around with.

hello, ullys.
Yah, I experience the stiffness on the program dial compared to 350D.
But then it doesn't bother me so much as I don't really often to change the program dial.

Oilling? hehe... I wouldn't do that If I were you.

What I hate about the diamond AF points is that it's not widely spread enough which makes it troublesome if I want to frame the object in the far left or right. :(
