As far as i understand, 30D batt grip is the same.

I dun know what's the thing about the shutter release, maybe technically it is faster, practically i don't notice any difference!!

Well, pardon me if i offend you in what im gonna say.Its not a hoo-ha,we are just sharing our joy getting a new camera.30D may not be a camera that everyone are dying to have but i believe there is no such rules in CS that stops people from sharing their joy from buying a new camera.I totally agree with the "Isn't it the lens & the photographer's skills that makes or break the shots ?" comments u made but in the first place,we didn't say the 30D that we just bought made us a professional photographer overnight.Since you already know that you are being a sour grape then keep the comments to yourself.Thanks. :)

Well Said.

Hi 30D owners,

I have a question too regarding 30D. I am using Photoshop CS2 and I understand that 30D RAW file is in CR2 format. Are you all able to open the 30D RAW file in CS2 even despite after installing the Adobe Camera Raw 3.3? I can't seem to get it work though. Anyone with 30D facing the same problems as me?

Thanks in advance.

Cong to the owner of the 30D.

After a test shot of the 30D at IT show the camera feature is impress.
Start up close to instant.Continue shots is good.

But the shutter shot is a bit loud compare to 300D. Hope the next improve version from 30D is better.

Hand grip is good compare to 350D.

Good camera to start off with , those whose has spare cash of 2.2-2.5K for DSLR in canon brand.

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. Just bought 30D on weekend (after agonising weeks thinking over Nikon D200) and it is my first d-slr. So far good first impressions, much better than my Powershot S50 :)

Pictures quality is very good, love the colour and contrast (using Sigma 30/1.4). Still getting used to the handling especially the multi-controller which I find a bit difficult to use. The quick-control dial is very nice.

The mirror-slap sounds louder than my friend's 10D, definitely get my subject's attention.

Tried ISO 1600 and it is reasonably clean (one of my reasons for getting it rather than D200) but ISO 3200 is not as good as I expected although it is way better than ISO 400 of my S50.

Bought the battery grip (the same as 20D) as well.

Now thinking of which walk-around lens (I mostly use wide-angle lens, can't get wide enough on my S50), so any recommendations?

Hoping to get advises and supports from other users.

Well, this is a responsible forum for expression.

Your points noted.

I did not say that you are a professional with a 30D either, so dun put words into my mouth.

I do sound like a sour grape to the eyes to those who posted here, as I did not own a 30D and making these comments. But I couldn't be borthered by what other people think, I am just expressing my views. This is not like 2nd hand smoke, that I will violent protest the intrusion.

Have a nice day and enjoy your new toy.

If you don't bother about what people think of you then why bother about me putting words in your mouth? (which i didn't ) Since you said this is a resonsible forum for expression then please be responsible for your words and try not to offend people. It's easy for you to say that you are free to express your own views and not be bothered by what people think of you,well...then why bother talking???

Whatever the case, there will still be noise with digital SLRs, no matter how advanced the technology is.

Just a tip: sharing images from a new camera with out-of-focus shots seems more like demonstrating your lenses' bokeh by making everything out of focus. ;)

I was at CP marina yesterday. They quoted me $260. ;)

hmm. not trying to stir more fire here, but i do agree that posting those pics are not particularly useful. Those are more like showing capability of the lenses (and the photographer's skills) -- BUT BUT yes i know, its exciting, and its good to share the joy.

How about this, the blessed 30D fellas. How about posting shots about spot metering versus evaluative? Let us see if its that entirely useful, and how well it works. And show us the 3fps versus 5fps modes. Preferably, shoot fast moving objects with AI Servo too, and see if the "refined" AF algorithm from the 20D really lives up to the sales talk.

Or at least, I would do that if i am a new 30D user.

Lynch,i understand what you trying to say.Don't worry, you're not stiring up fire. ;) The reason why i wasn't very happy with the other guy was because he was saying until like we are being very proud cause we got this new camera. He was saying that we are making a hoo-haa over it.What i wanna say is this thread isn't about showing off the capabilities of the camera. It's just a normal thread for us,30D users to discuss about this camera, share the joy. That's all. :) If possible,i will try to upload pictures of the things you mentioned above.Cheers...

Please advise where in my simple statement that says you are a professional ? Unless my english is that bad, then you are simply making a living with this camera ?
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=professional

You simply think too highly of yourself.

It is called defamation, you are adding words to my statement and taking the whole matter out of context. That is why I am concerned.

Oh, in case you didn't know those words, please go ask your English teacher or consult the dictionary.

Your choice of words are offensive to me, and YOU are responsible for it.

What are you going to do about it ?

Nothing ? Or just keep occupying bandwidth here and my inbox ? Shut up your face lor

The pot calling the cattle black / brown or whatever color you wished to see from your monitor.

Perhaps the photographer will called it Art or something, to say that there is an alternative view which we had not noticed.

Or was it just the camera's ability outstrip the photographer's skills. :bsmilie:

Specially, this is the masterpiece of the new 30D ?

My 3 yrs old & old Digic chip Canon A300 can also deliver the same type of result at 1/10 the price. :sticktong

Whats the hoo-haa ? I really don't understand. Peraps it is called Art or something.

So if someone wants me to say I am sour grape, I am not.

I just sounded like one and I better say it first.

Otherwise it is a pot calling the cattle brown case. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

hmmm ok guys. Let's not spoil this good thread shall we? I am sure the other fella had the same thoughts as me, but perhaps, the way he wrote may -seem- not too nice. Still, its easy to misunderstand text at times.... no?

Shall we turn back to the actual thread topic? anymore, then i think this good thread could potentially be closed. I am sure its all misunderstandings.

Show us! spot metering, 3fps versus 5fps, and AI Servo!
And then i am sure the others who are as curious as me would probably be joining you guys soon as 30D owners. : )

Why hammer him by saying that? He did nothing but to share the 1st photo he took with his new toy! Masterpiece or not, it doesn't matter at all.

Ok fine...maybe i was wrong about the "professional" thingy. Please try to understand that what if it's you who wants to talk about a new camera that you just bought and someone say you are making a hoo-haa over it,how would you feel?i know that you are free to express your own views and it doesn't matter what people think of you but frankly speaking, that's the kind of attitude that losers have.I know the picture that i posted is nothing special and doesn't show what 30D can deliver but in the first place, did i say that other cameras can't take that kind of picture too???did i say that "wow, the picture that i took with my 30D is awesome, too bad non-30D users can't take this kind of picture"?I can shut up whenever i want to,im being offensive cause you are the one who was being offensive first.

Thanks Zack, that was what i was meant when i upload that picture. It wasn't a show off or something. If only that person would understand.

Lynch, you are right. This would be last post trying to explain to someone over how come he was being offensive. There are just some people who just like to come in and hammer people cause they think they are always right so i see no point in talking to people like that.

My colleagues are standing beside me now and i let them read the whole thread. The first question that they asked me was "what's the guy's problem? He got nothing else better to do?".

Well, that's all from me.If that guy wanna continue further then i don't give a d*mn about what he say cause no point bothering about this kind of people. For the rest, hope you guys will have fun with your new 30D. ;)
