Interesting...

Don't know if A-100 is really that good or because Sony is a freaking huge company that none of the magazine wants to offend (due to Sony's advertising budget).

We shall see real feedback from picky customer who have the A100...

Most interesting part will be to me is the compatibility of existing 5600HS flash with A-100 or later Sony DSLR. I don't really want to buy another 2 flashes...

I am going to sit on my hand and wait for more exciting news for the 7D replacement.. won't budge with A-100 just yet. But you never know...

from the review the a-100 is slightly faster at 3.5 frames/sec and upz to more than 700+ with flash on 50%......conservatively rated..in practical use it go up to more than 1k shots without:thumbsup:

think i can charge my battery like once every 3 months... i only shoot about 100 shots a day kind (max)... then shoot really occasionally...

Actually those more like field tests instead of detail reviews. Waiting for a few more sites to come up.

Don't need to worry about no charging point during travel or changing batteries during shoots ;p . Is it new circuit design or really better batteried. Make me wonder whether 3rd party will last as long or not

750 shots to 1000 shots per battery is great news of course...

Currently getting about 500-600 shots per 2 NP-400. I have 5 or 6 sets.. so never run out of battery. Got close once.

Hart

This is from POP PHOTO "I got an extensive field test of the camera during a two-day Alaskan adventure that Sony put together". $ONY pay for everything...how can they write something really bad about the camera isn't it. :bsmilie:

Frankly, based on the sample photos, and preview/review release so far on various sites, I think it's gonna be good for the market it's aiming at.

manual focus with all the lights turned off? :bsmilie: i got about 4gb once on my 5D with a single charge, shooting on full manual. but 6gb on a microdrive.. phew... the battery must be better than the original np400... tell us please!

the rrp for the cam is out for taiwan and hkhkg ...with the taiwan having the cheapest deal
body n kit at less than $1.5k selling cheaper than the japanese market

They only talk about how good the cam is, but there is no comparison with other cams.

.
I guess that's for the initial marketing phrase.

The real acid test would come after its being shipped.

Generally, I don't buy/read American photo magazines (like those under Petersen's publications) because their "reviews" tend to either be nothing more than a write-up of a camera's features or functions, or as some have mentioned, merely a large, company-endorsed advertorial.

British magazines tend to be more honest, IMO. If a certain item is lousy, they would definitely not hide their feelings about it.

Anyway, the then KM and Sony were working on a DSLR since what, a year ago? Is the A-100 this camera?

We'll see how lah, hor?

But if there is significant improvement to the AF performance, better useability (any user-programmable presets?) AND a competitive price-point, I might seriously consider replacing my D5D with this.

seriously, I don't think there will be any significant AF inprovement.. it will be some, but not by great deal... I might be wrong.

Because the motor is inside the body and have to drive the lens, it has its own limitation... but well... current HS version and SSM is fast enough.

Hart

on the other hand, i think the AF might be slower or remain constant, if its faster, then it will use more power due to bigger servo & such... then i think its using some nuclear generator inside already...

AF is limited by several factor in my opinon. Namely the light sensor on the camera, the camera CPU and lens. Hopefully Sony has fixed all these problems.
