Well, that's an interpretation(and a risk) you have to take isn't it? How boring is it if everybody were to submit "safe" nature photos?

same question as metallilan bro ... must be 2008 pics ar ? cause i just got rid of my 400D lehx... temporary no cam ... but i still have alll the pics for the competition ...

as long as the photos are your original work and have not won prizes in any previous competitions, they can be used for this competition. Don't need to be taken in 2008.
Good luck! :)

That is how I would interpret it...assuming the 'landscape' photos don't have too much of a human presence in it. But then again, I better step aside and let the organizer decide. Looks like there's no category for dogs and cats, but I saw one of the winning portfolios for the previous competition and there was a cat photo in it. What category does that go in? Nature?

Looks like I will need to email photos home and get parents to print out and submit for me. Currently working in Australia.

Wonder if I should participate again, but either way this is the last chance I'd get before becoming too old.

I will interpret Nature as in mother nature.
Such as things like tornado, lightning etc....
I believe it would be more interesting. And requires patience and skills to take a nice one. Just my views..

I don't have many chances left... getting old.

Hey! Long time no see! Want to shoot one day msn/sms me. Hehe.... ITP starting, only free on weekends. ;)

Print either 8R (8" x 10") or S8R (8" x 12") and mount each photo on a separate black mounting board. You may purchase the mounting board at Popular, Art Friend, or at any other good stationery store.

Oronza: Your PM inbox is full!

Is there some sort of norm for the dimensions of the mounting board? Cut to same size as the prints, or with a border, or what?

I hope there are no restrictions on when it's taken since they also did not state where it's taken. Notice the past winners that some of the place of shoot is not in local...

Can anyone share with me what is really a portrait? Only the face (top of head to cheek + abit of neck)?

Can it be showing of a person's back called a portrait??

Thanks

A portrait basically means a photo with the person as the main subject. Head shots, half-body, full body, front view, side view, back view, all considered portrait..

Face of animal, eg. dog not considered a portrait?

It is, but it's also considered nature, depending on how you look at it.. even a photo with an object as the main subject can be considered a portrait, just that they're more suited in another category.. if you wanna be safe, it's better if it's a portrait of someone..

its really not just abt being safe
youd probably want to interpret the theme in an interesting way, prob something diff from everyone else. although it is important that the pic and the subject do fit the theme in a way or another. besides, u do have a caption to say how u link tt
