americans have it good in terms of prices. remember the prices are before taxes which u have to pay if you purchase the product in the same state. the ang moh referred here is usually Europeans who have taxes that make our GST look mild.

I've got it already even though my camera was purchased a few days before the promotion date. For people like me, ask your shop to talk to Canon.

prices are always dropping. it has slipped quite a bit since launch. the next big drop might be in response to Nikon's price cuts or launch of D100 replacement.
