Diffuser material is those white soft foam thingy where you can bend and cut to the require size and shape.
See attached pic. thickness about 4 or 5 mm.

The top piece cardboard is to bounce the flash lighting downwards with a highly reflective surface.

Play with the following settings manually on your camera to achieve the lighting. Of course, the raw file I took is still subject to some post processing in photoshop.
I dont use auto settings or let camera decide for me.

-ISO (200~400)
-Shutter speed (125 ~ 200)
-Aperture (f16~f25)
-manual flash power (manually control down from full ~1/2 ~1/4~ 1/8 power)

Yes, I am using 2x Canon 270 EX II speedlite with wireless control from 60D body.

I have changed my setup to single flash for lighter weight to hold with one hand.
