some people just do not get what photography is about, my advice is to ignore them, because they seem to live a life that is directed towards antagonising people they perceive as popular, it seems. anyways, knowing clubsnap, it is a matter of time before people start witch-hunting them and then they will be gone with the wind.
anyways, love all the shots you've been posting. it's a wee bit different from the ones i usually tend to like, but very nice moments.

in fact, I am happy for EM to voice out his views although would have appreciated if he could have elaborated a lil bit, instead of giving short quotes :bsmilie:
since i got a bit of time here, I will pen some thoughts on the images that EM pointed out. hopefully it will also be useful for everyone out there learning / striving to improve in photography too

anyway like i've mentioned since i've got a bit of time, let's share some ideas and see how we can improve on such shots next time
the sky is blown in this shot
In order not to blow the sky, in such condition, when the sky is super bright and the sun is directly overhead, you could probably have used external flash to keep some detail in the sky while still lighting your subject. But it would probably have required a very strong flash output (prob full power) and that would have rendered the lighting on the subject slightly unnatural, especially since i am shooting from a bottom up position.
my personal thoughts and as most would have come to know by now, is that i like my stuff natural :bsmilie: so the natural choice for me, would be to blow the sky lor, as I don't think the sun or the HDB block in the background is as important as the action of the groom's brother
as for the this one,
it was taken at the void deck, and I actually have alot of details in the RAW file, but i decided to DI the ceiling away to give it a more consistent feel with the other shots from the kompang
yep. The groom is out of focus. But whether it is a bad thing, I am not so sure. I personally feel that the brothers behind are also important. Imagine at the end of the day, there are no photos to show what the brothers had to go through to help the groom get to his bride. How sad would that be? :dunno: Thus after a few shots of the groom, I turned my attention to the brothers.
Also, another thing to consider is story telling. If I wanted to show the brothers' reactions, why could I have not just stepped a lil bit to the side and composed a shot of the brothers only and leave out the groom?
Well, to put it simply, it's because an image, like a story book cannot be one dimensional.
If I had only shown you 1 image of the brothers laughing, you'd probably go... "laughing quite nice lar... but laughing at what?"
Whereas here, I show the brothers reacting to the groom in action all in just 1 image and immediately you get the idea.
So that's my 2cents on all 3 images.
Hopefully, you can continue to share more and put down your thoughts in detail next time, so as to help us all improve.
