I not sure, tat AMG CLS55 stays in Tanglin... purposedly like to challenge ppl & shock ppl. Becoz ppl thought he normal AMG CLS55 wif 469bhp only mah. But wrong, uprated twin superchargers, exhaust & brakes. Pushing out in excess of 550bhp. No prob taking on Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 Turbo or Ferrari F430 at the lights.

Hmmm, got powerful car can hao lian la...

Thanks acl30.

NOW I really know that most "F1 supporters" in Singapore are in name only...when they can't recognise FIA officials. :bsmilie:

This so-called "President" is the king of the track..otherwise known as the Race Director, Charlie Whiting. The race cannot proceed at all if he doesn't give the all-clear.

Next to him is Bernd Maylander, the Safety Car driver. He's a former Formula Ford, Porsche Carrera Cup, German DTM touring car series, FIA GT Championship and 24-hour Nurburgring race veteran.

Hey ClipperSG, thanks for that info update :)

Don't sweat it lifestyle. ;p

I knew when F1 came to Singapore that there will be a lot of "overnight fans"..but its not surprising that 9 out of 10 have not even heard about F1 10 years ago.

I recognise Charlie cos he's been a Race Director as far back as I can remember. There's also the Deputy RD, Herbie Walsh. These are the 2 permanent FIA officials, plus 2 other Stewards, and a Race Starter.

I got interested in F1 back in the 80s during school days, when newspapers hardly had any news at all. The only source then was through the UK magazine, Autosport. However I'm glad to say that as of this month, Autosport Singapore has just been released. You can pick it up as it has a lot of racing information, covering everything from F1 to Rallys.

I will dig out my old F1 stuff I used to get from the older teams and try to post some stuff out to share. :sweatsm:

You think the Pinnacle of F1 period is when? I think it is during Michael Schmi time in the Ferrari F1 car. It should be the most powerful then right? Rumoured to be making 960bhp. Is it?

To me personally, after all the F1 races I have seen on TV, the pinnacle was the Prost/Senna/Mansell/Piquet era.

Those 4 brought with them excitement, rivalries more intensed than Alonso/Hamilton, controversies, and lastly, great driving skills to show us why they were the best of the best.

My personal favourite was Prost during the McLaren days. The "Professor" had that unique driving style which combined patience, stalking and excellent manuevering skills. Off-track, he was a simple man, with none of that showmanship and b/s that you see in some drivers.

During the late 80s-early 90s, McLaren-TAG/Honda/Ford/Peugeot, Lotus-Renault/Honda/Judd/Lamborghini and Williams-Honda/Judd/Renault cars ruled the tracks. And yes, it was that messy with the many engine suppliers.

From 1988-92, McLaren dominated the F1 scene, as the Honda engine gave it the power it needed. However Honda left in 1992, and that gave way to the rise of the Williams-Renault.

So tat time Williams Honda wat is the spec of the engine?
