Ok, I got some prices off the dpreview forums:

Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 - US$699 (street price) - S$1013
Sigma 70-200 f.2,8 HSM - US$999 (street price) - S$1448

SONY 70-300 G - US$799 (street price) - $1158

I think the Tamron and the SONY are quite affordable... I expect prices to slide a little by the time the flagship is out in Photokina...

Hopefully Sony Singapore would realise that Singaporeans are not the riches people on earth and prices the lens so much higher than the price in US and HK. Our average pay is the lowest among the three yet the lenses here seems to be the most expensive.

That's why I got my "big beercan" from B&H.

The Big Beercan totally enslaved me ever since... I wouldn't settle for any other lens... @____@
