But seriously, I am also very curious on its real world performance versus the hype. So we shall see. One thing's for sure, I will chew up my CF like anything.

For all 300D owners or owners to be..... some notes on the 300D to share...

Had the camera for a few days now. Went out over the weekend and had a go at it. My setup was as follows: EF 50mm f1.8, 420EX and the EOS300D itself with the vertical grip.

Saturday:
I was shooting potrait and using the vertical grip. AF was set to one shot AF aperture to f2.8. The focus was fast but when the subject moves, the focus is lost and due to the narrow dof, I got some blurred shots. The 420ex works fine with the 300D but as some posters has noted, you cannot control the power of the flash with the 300D. Something which my G3 could. Its a feature I sorely missed.

Sunday:
Decided to switch to AI focus and f3.2. This allows the camera to decide to use One Shot AF or AI Servo AF. As my subjects were all moving, this seem to work pretty well. Most of my shots were in focus. Coming from a G3 the 300D was a great improvement. The shutter lag was not noticable and I was able to capture most of the action. ISO at 200 was still silky smooth. Weight while lighter than the rest of the DSLR, was considerable compared to my good old G3.

More notes later when I use this baby!
;)
