Actually I dun think I will miss out on live view, not important to me. Big bright viewfinder I like! :)

Is this Micro Auto-focus function meaning lens focus calibration like what the Nikon D3 and D700 can do? That would be awesome!

Anyway, I like the Micro Auto-focus function for up to 30 lenses meaning no more BF or FF of lenses.

Yup, for up to 30 lenses.

haha...sooo close to my house...about 600m.

ai yoh, i find Sony's jpeg processing and NR algorithms quite disappointing leh. i think the A700 v4 shows what their sensor is capable of, but which is let down by the lousy jpeg processing.
same goes for the A900, although a bit too early to say, but at first glance it seems that RAW files processed from 3rd party softwares are leaps & bounds ahead of the A900's jpegs.

something to work on Sony!

Remember...it still Bionz DSP.....and 2x Bionz is not the same as Bionz II.
So should be kinda expected the same kind of DSP engine core. Well, probabaly some tweaking in their algos would help.

At least, we know that they are actually releasing firmwares based on user inputs is already a great progress.

By the way, anyone realize the silver bodied 70-400? Is this real? Silver bodied?

Hi guys, I've never used a high end telephoto zoom lens before, so can someone tell me what is the use of THREE focus-hold buttons?

From Dpreview.com
A focus-mode/range switch and three focus-hold buttons have been added to the lens barrel for enhanced operability.

The three focus hold button is for focus hold as the name implies.

What for?
It could be setup for use as Depth-of-filed Preview Button or Focus Hold.
Focus Hold: When you are shooting say an event where ther subject point of focus is fixed/prediectable, when AF ends and locked focus, if you need to temporarily keep the focus there, you could use the focus hold button instead of having to 1/2 press the shutter which will eventually lock AE (you dont want that). So its conveniently located on the lens holding hand to allow the other hand to be free if you have to scratch your nose..heheh
Depth-of-field : As the name implies...it can be set to stop down your aperture to check for depth of field - useful in Aperture Priority mode.

Its located in three position as the lens could be used in 2 for Portrait (Clockwise + Anticlockwise turn from Landscape) , 1 for Landscape. Hence the three locations.

The 70-400G seem to have leveraged the similar formulation of the front portion of the 70-200G and the formulation of the rear section of the 70-300G. Woo hoo great stuff.

Looh at the front of the 70-400... It looks like it extends.

How come no Live View ?

This has been discussed 1000 times already...

1. Live View is a bit gimmicky, so Sony implemented their review mode instead - more of a photographer-centric approach.

2. Live view on a FF, pentaprism camera would mean it would need to be like the C and N versions - no proper AF, etc.

Haha, yeps. Should look HUGE when attached with the Lens Hood too.
Design looks fairly similar to the 70-200G. :D
Pricewise is a bit high...Looks like all the new Lens are out to compete with Canon L series.

thinkvision had mentioned that sony had 3 ff bodies,
with A900 being the first announce, we still have another 2 in the waiting.
shall see how
May be there's a A950 with live view later , then A990 with video function :bsmilie:

Still prefer it to have build in flash though :(.

it's silver white, but not shiny at all. i would say it's a good colour.
by the way, does it's mean it's slightly lower grade then the pure white or it's just a new style.:sweatsm:
