WHAAAAAAAAAT?????!!!!!

Dirt and dust on cameras and lenses really bug the bee jeezuz out of me, so I keep my camera gear out of harm's way. Sick and twisted, I know!

I bought this camera for the sole purpose of documenting the birth of my son (eta of stork is 17 days), and capturing moments of my daughter's youth.

great excuse to buy a new camera.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Is your name paul?

I'm saving that excuse in my arsenal to buy a Hassy 503CW kit. The missus wouldn't hear any of it right now :bsmilie:

Whoa $xx,xxx camera to document kids (who sometimes grow up being least appreciative - note SOMETIMES).

Weather proof camera - don't want to take outdoors? Not exactly the Sahara desert here in Singapore - actually one of the most dust free places around except during the haze.

I will remain contented and happy with my 40D, which, despite not having weather proofing, I do take outdoors.

Have fun with the 1DsIII, a body I will never buy, at least not in the next 2 years.

That's the advantage of having separate accounts - no need to ask for anybody's approval.

You are very good for reading the manuals :D Well done :):)
More people should read their manuals like you!

It seems less expensive when expressed in US$, then only $x,xxx.xx

Would you agree there tends to be less dust indoors than out? Besides, I did not buy the camera because of its weather sealing. Surplus to requirements, but not an option you can delete!

Your camera, your rules!

Thanks, I will enjoy taking off and putting back on the plastic wrappers to protect against indoor dust!

Just being practical - too many options that are not, at first glance, very intuitive. Doesn't necessarily lead to better pictures though.

I download the pdf's of the manuals and read them on my laptop. I don't like to mess up the hard copy manuals.

You crack me up canonfan. Great project btw. I followed a photog's project in capturing her daughter since she was a baby till she was 9. Super powerful set of photos man. Makes me wish I had a dad like that. Heck, now it makes me wish I'll be a dad like that. So, cheers!

I try not to take myself too seriously. This is just a hobby, so why not have some fun?

Great project btw.

My wife's project really. It does give me a great excuse to spend the kids' education fund on toys that I enjoy.

Yeah, think of all the blackmail potential I will have once they grow up and try to forget their faux pas (Frog for past misdeeds and fashion crimes)!

Makes me wish I had a dad like that.

I did, but I managed to find all the negatives, and somehow they went up in smoke.

Heck, now it makes me wish I'll be a dad like that.

Read the works of Machiavelli and you will be well on your way.

So, cheers!

Thanks for the non-judgemental words. Now I really gotta go make some bread, bake some cakes, and prep the bird for a good roasting.

I certainly sell my gear as soon as a new model comes out. I am a bit of an equipment 'ho. A high class one perhaps, but a 'ho to the core.

Thanks for the props. As soon as the Mark IV becomes available in 3 year' time, I will ditch my lovingly cared for 1Ds3 so fast it would get whiplash if it had a neck.

Thanks, you're the guiding light by any other name in the Buy/Sell underverse, a standard by which all other sellers should be measured by... e.g., cf/1.0, cf/1.4, cf/2.0, cf/2.8, etc...

I believe in karma, and the material society's golden rule (He with the gold makes the rules).

I like to think that anybody who has bought something from me would do it again without hesitation. Repeat business is the best kind of business.

As far as apertures go, f1.2 is my largest, and the 3 others are all f2.8's, (at least until I get the 800mm f5.6 hopefully sometime this year).

I am not a collector of lenses, so I don't buy primes for the sake of owning primes.

The L zooms I own are more than adequate until the pixel count goes up to 30mp. I do not think they will be going on the block any time soon though.

Furthermore, the 1Ds3 does ISO 400 very nicely, so the extra 2 f-stops give me a lot of headroom (and more closet space for original packaging).

Now, back to page 75 of the manual .....
