On some online forum, I received information that you can donate $10 towards the red cross/aid for the tsunami victims, the number listed was 1900-91111110, I dialed the number only to find that its a chatline.

I also received an email warning that this number is also appearing to the public via sms as well.

goodness, this is true! just checked the Singapore Red Cross website, no mention of this number! here is the Singapore Red Cross website link

i do my donation thru bank fund transfer..safer,and in any odd amount..

I received that number thru a couple of sms too. Here's the correct numbers to call:

Taken from http://www.channelnewsasia.com/killerwaves

You can also donate via:
M1: SMS DONATE to 8880 for a S$10 donation.

StarHub: Reply to an SMS sent by StarHub for a S$10 donation. StarHub to send the SMS over the weekend.

SingTel: call 1900 112 1226 or *1226 for a $10 donation OR call 1900 112 1227 or *1227 for a $50 donation

Please check your facts before posting. This post is totally untrue. I just hope it is not a prank. I can't imagine any decent human being who will think of sabotaging a genuine effort to help the victims.

I am a Mercy Relief volunteer. Just to be triplely (if there is such a word) sure, I called 19009111110 three times to make sure that claim made by the original poster is wrong.

I checked also with Hassan Ahmad (hassan@mercyrelief.org), the executive director of Mercy Relief, who confirmed the number is right.

Yes, i also registered with Clubsnap just to post this clarification.

There are many different organizations helping to raise money to benefit the Red Cross' effort, and Mercy Relief is one of them.

Different organizations may have different numbers, but the money raised all benefit Asia Tidal Waves victims.

If you don't believe me, just call the number. If it is a chatline as claimed, I will ask Mercy Relief to pay for all your charges.

On behalf of Mercy Relief, I am suggesting that the original poster check again and clarify. I just hope you have made a genuine mistake.

To show my sincerity, I am posting my mobile number 91876351 for anyone who wish to clarify with me.

Thanks.

I trust the Number is true.

I am a volunteer for central singapore CDC, and I am helping at the relief collection centre for the past 2 days. The Number is printer on the Donation Can as well.

I have taken some photos at the relief centre as well, but I will post it after tomorrow. We are rushing to finish sorting out and packing to catch the Monday shipment to Sri Lanka.

I have to inform potential donates not to bring in anymore clothes.
The Flight to Sri Lanka have limited space, and clothes are the last thing in the list to be pack for the flight. Medical, Fresh Water, Food are the priorty.

If you don't know what to give, please give your donation in money. You can call 19009111110 for $10 donation or 19009111150 for $50 donation.

Alternatively, donation can is set up at all Mac, NTUC & Coldstorage Checkout counter. Central Singapore CDC at Toa Payoh HDB Hub 4th Storey, Biz 3 Lobby 2 will be open to collect Cash & Cheque Donation for tomorrow from 11am to 9pm. We will be also collecting the Medical, Water & Food items to be ship to Sri Lanka on Monday.

Donation in Cash & Cheque will be a continues efford, whatever we sent to them will only last for a limited time. They will need quite some time to rebuild their home and to go back to normal life. They are now left with nothing at all. So the Relief have to be a continous thing, and not for this moment only.

I have attached the following photos to proof to the potential donors that what I said is true and not Bullshit!!!! My profession is a salesman, buy I sell my product with convincing facts, and not just smoking through... If your finger is too big and punch a wrong number, is your mistake, maybe you key in the wrong number. Please make sure you get the facts right before you post. If there are 500 members in this forum and they are potential, we have just lost 5,000 dollars after seeing your post!!! :nono:

I just realised that we got 11,635 members in clubsnap...
Wah, If 1 person call once to the donation helpline to donate $10,
It will mean S$116,350.

Wonder if the owner of this forum can initiate such a massive request?
It will be a great record for ClubSNAP... at least we have done something in common and meaningfully.

Aiya... anyway, just dreaming only lah.

I would like to thanks those who had donated generously in whatever mode.

Good Luck to everyone in 2005 & lets pray for the victims of Tsunami.

I really hope that this natural crisis will not affect Singapore economy.
Hope that my sales in 2005 will be better than 2004. (If not will be shot dead by my boss...keke...)

Cheers!

wow ... what a confusion. sincere apologies from me first as i just checked on the Singapore Red Cross website only, since the first post has pointed out the 'red cross' as the owner of the line. just checked out the Channelnewsasia site. the number is mentioned on the site under Mercy Relief as well!

(btw: this number is listed in mercy reliefs site, I think they MAKE MAJOR TYPO, its for a telechat service called dreamchat)

my apologies. theres a typo..

1900 91111110 is the fraud number..

please call and verify. you should get.

a) calls are charged at 99c per minute

b) press 1

c) welcome to dreamchat, where all your dreams come true.

---

Count the number of 1's.

Thanks for checking and clarifying.

The so-called "fraud number" is 190091111110 (there are SIX 1s between 9 and 0)

Mercy Relief's donation number is 19009111110 (there are FIVE 1s between 9 and 0)

The original poster has since edited his typo errors, so it may not be clear to others what this thread is about.

Instead of trying 190091111110 (the one with SIX 1s between 9 and 0) just to verify that it's a chatline, I suggest those who want to donate their precious $10 to the victims of Asia Tidal Waves to just dial 19009111110 (the one with FIVE 1s between 9 and 0)

Thanks.

In that case, it is not the mistake of Mercy Relief...
Please count your 1's in future. You need a glasses.

Cheers... Happy New Year.

sorry, no, but when the number as given to me and read by me as having 6 ones and followed by a zero. its just that when I posted the warning, I thought I made a typo since the singapore numbers are 7 digits long. (thus correcting the number to the actual correct number)

for those of you who receive the warning message via email (not originated by me) also can count the number of 1's, just watch what you dial, better yet, just dial singtel's number... doesn't matter how it the donation is made as long as the needy get it., the fault would be how come an invalid number of 9 (six 1's) and 0 can go through...
