18-200mm lens

hey all
I am using a 500D and looking for a 18-200mm lens now. any suggestion on brands? Canon, sigma or Tamron? :dunno:

the signma and tamron already hv new model that is a improved version of those listed above..

Sigma is 18-250 , Tamron is 18-270 .. both hv VC / OS (stabilizer) and cost ard $950..

for such range , stabilizer is very helpful, esp if u shoot at 120mm and above and the place hvno good lighting

i've used both lenses on a canon 400D before. i would say the canon 18-200 IS produces more contrast in the pictures taken, something the sigma lacks.

you must be on budget..me too canon 500d....
if i rem correctly i got it 2mths ago at MS close to $499 for the sigma 18-200 DC(non os)...from far look like L lens cos got red ring!haha...much shorter and lighter compared to sigma 18-125 , and 18-200 os...tried all at MS....at this price can't complain too much as a walkabout outdoor lens...
ideally i would like to own EF-S 10-22(still procrastinating), already got tamron 28-75 f2.8, and also aiming prime 85mm or 100mm to complete what i think i need.........(got 50mm f1.8 and 18-55 kit collecting dust in dri cabi)

Hi friend,

Recently I sell away my Tamron 16-250mm f/3.5-6.3 travel, Tamron 17=35mm f/2.8 wide angle lens and Canon 28-135mm f/3.5 - 5.6 lens. Reason of sell is because too heavy to carry around during hoilday. I bought Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens. And now feel happy when go hoilday with my family.

oic.. thanks for all the info.. me still deciding.. haizz.. i find the sigma 18-200 built is more solid as compared with the canon 18-200. then i just noticed got Sigma 18-250.. :sweat:.. dun know which one to buy.. :dunno:

compare the sizes of the lens 18-200 DC non os to tammy 28-75 and kit canon 18-55 and other clumsy giants that usually not used for all round travel...

i ask Alan Photo abt Sigma 18-200mm (with OS), they say no more selling..:dunno: they only have 18-250mm for $950.. anyone where cheaper than tat? :cry:
