Lol...thats was smart!

Lol bro so how? You decided? Actually I know alot of ppl leaning toward EF lens especially the L cos they look so nice lol...But seriously I dont think the 17-55 is any worst. In fact I felt it is quite solid when its in my hand :)

80-90% leaning more towards 17-55... haha

the rental L lens also got dust... so L lens isn't dustproof...

L-lenses are not dust proof, they are dust resistant.

haha
but i think 17-55 also will have ard the same dust. my kit also got dust in it.

i will be getting a dust free lens once after the calibration ba.

during calibration, they will also remove the dust in the lens ma?

my 17-55 does not have any visible dust(fingers crossed), maybe because i don't use it in adverse environment and i store it in my dry cabinet when not in use.

as for removal of dust during calibration, i think csc will clean the glass elements up as they need to unscrew the front element to do the calibration.

if not customers will have a chance to nitpick again, haha.

My kit lens got dust maybe due to no filter on it. I had a filter after a month later.

i slapped my filter on the lens, the moment i got the lens out of the box, at the shop.

So long as it's not like the rumors that this is a dust sucking lens then i think we're fine. Which lens wouldn't accumulate dust over a long period of use? The guy at TK Photo also said so far he hasn't really heard any bad complain and was saying who knows it's really just a rumours. :)

Nice. Now I am thinking if I want to get 1st hand or 2nd hand. Price diff is 500...

I should have done that too :( only screw on the filter after reaching home haiz....

if you can afford the initial depreciation, then go first hand.

else a good 2nd hand copy will get the job done too. that said, the difficulty lies in searching for a good condition one.

I've read that most of the dust issue on this lens is due to the front lens element. Just slap a filter on it and will reduce the chances of forming dust balls in the lens.

sure there are a few 1k ones but like you said, they'll be gone even before you can lift you hand to your phone.

hehe
if buy 2nd hand, have to slowly hunt for a good one. :)
somemore i am currently very cash tight... just paid for the holiday plus bridal service... waiting for my next mth pay to come in 1st then decide to buy 1st hand, if i come across one good deal for 2nd hand before pay day then i get it

it's the IS at work.

Yea Bro, you're right it's the IS at work. Thx. Btw, hope everything is alright for your 7D baby. Everything turns out fine :)

When focusing or after focused is achieved? The USM is quite quiet but the same cannot be said for the IS motor. Try turning IS off and listen for the sound.

tecnica: Indeed, the IS motor is pretty loud. *click* *hum* *ooh... so stable even at 200mm!*

Bro, once IS is off no sound :)
