i dun really need wide end and i miss this extra 15mm.. how?

get a 85/f1.8 or 135L.

imo for such general purpose zoom lens, being able to go wider is more important then being able to reach out further.

then again, different strokes for different folks.

if you think your REALLY need that extra 15mm, instead of walking a few steps more, by all means get the 24-70L.

you can consider keeping the 17-55 for the occasional wide angle use or sell it for a 10-22 or forgo the wide end altogether since you said 80-85% of your shots are >24mm. :dunno:

anyone here who had used the 17-55, sold and got the 24-70..? or the other way round.. any regrets? any feedbacks? i am currently using 17-55, thinking got 24-70.. wat do i lose and gain?

I had a 17-55, then sold it and upgraded to 24-70. But that is only coz i upgraded to FF so my 17-55 had to go.

Me. I definitely regret the slight lost in sharpness, really the lack of wideangles forces you to stand further back than you are comfortable with. But I’m usually shooting portraits so the range is handy, and the nice colour tones are a huge plus.

And by the way it is REALLY noticably heavier!

one curious question to TS.....do u have a big and solid arm?? hehe

haha, 24-70 is nothing compared to 70-200 f2.8 IS. But that being said, the 24-70 is too heavy for me to be considered a walkabout lens.
