Ya, I will be thinking hard over the next few weeks....thks. But if you do travel, you may need to give the weight a thought as it may be quite tiring to travel with some many gears. Afterall, you will also want to enjoy your holiday with your loved ones as well as taking photos!

I am not sure of the lens performance and the pics that u are taking. I heard rumours that National Geographic photographers carrying Sony R1 as backup. Many people also say gd. Skin colour also there unlike their previous cams. Different CCD used. Saw photos taken from R1. Good. Only issue seem to have that slight shutter lag which we do not have

So, you heard rumours, which means it may or may not be the case, the Nat Geo photographers carry Sony R1 as a back up. You are really not sure, if all Nat Geo photographers, based on your rumour, or maybe only some, or a few, maybe even just one, carry the Sony R1 as a back up. Wonder where did you hear this rumour? Any truth to it?

You also said many people are saying that the R1 is good. May I ask how many? Or is it a rumour again?

I am pretty sure, R1 is a great camera, worthy of being the replacement to the 828, but is it really the back up camera of Nat Geo photographers?

Btw, did you know that the R1 raw file is huge, about 20MB and takes about 10 sec to write? Or that the noise reduction in high ISO really soften the image? Or that to make use of the carl ziess lens, you have to shoot at raw? These are not rumours.

Back on topic, to lewong, don't chase technology. Stay with a PnS.
