Which Nikon Len would you choose

What is the meaning of " Personally, 14~24mm is 10mm. There must be a reason why the manufacturer does this lens and not mark II of the 14-24." 14-24mm is hell a lot of different compared with 10mm.

Hi,

Oh...I meant the range is 10mm. Not comparing with a 10mm lens. Pardon me for my grammar... :-)

16-35mm is created for a reason by Nikon; probably they know about the issue with filter application but not wanting to compromise the performance of 14-24 as it is now.

Well, if you can spare the cash, there are 3 filter adapter solutions for the 14-24mm, excluding those DIY solutions...

Ah, very true. Nonetheless, the corrected picture won't be as wide, would it?

Of course, clever composition and good planning will circumvent this issue, but I'd be most interested in your workflow if you can retain most of the viewing angle!

Just very little. You will hardly notice the loss in wideness. Just download the lens profile for Samyang, check auto lens profile correction and it is done.

Yup.. same one. It doesn't only fit 14-24.. it can also fit a whole bunch of lenses with bulging front element...

Looks like we have a winner. Just waiting for someone to MO or bring in to Sg

I wouldn't exactly call it a winner...

170 euros for the holder, 110 euros for each adapter ring... and the 165mm filters are custom cut by Hitech each costing aroun 120 euros, and the RGND cost 180 euros... and no 10 stop filters... I would wait some more to see how this pan out...

Ya...filter is really a problem for 14-24mm. It simply too expensive even not lee filter.

I use the 16-35. I went this route because I use a lot of filters from time to time. I also have a Samyang 14/2.8. So when I need the wideness, I pull out the Samyang. The samyang is cheap enough for me to be able to afford both UWA lenses, and end up still paying less than the 14-24. Don't get me wrong, I think the 14-24 is an awesome lens. But if you use filters, you will understand my frustration with it. Some will tell you distortion of Samyang 14 is complex, or that the barrel distortion of the 16-35 at 16 is horrible. But seriously, a mouseclick before my workflow in PP, and it is fixed immediately.
I also use the Samyang 14 F2.8...Its a great lens and saves me a lot of weight...I find that I do not miss the Autofocus , and anyway its used with adapter on my 5D so AF would not be possible.:bsmilie:

Cheers

Hi,

Seen you guys using some manual lens like the Samyang 14mm. Is it difficult to focus manually? I thought that it will never beat AF?

If you know hyper focusing, this lens will trumps others equivalent in terms of price and practicality. As for critical sharpness, I think I'll leave it to pixel peeper to give a better answer.

When shooting landscapes. even with an AF lens, I will turn off AF and use MF to get my shots. ;)

Live view with manual focus is the best for landscape...

This is how I do it. I find that it works best even when light is so low that the AF sensor refuses to work, and you cannot see much in live-view nor the viewfinder.

Is there a way to mount an ND filter on a 14mm Samyang? I've been searching for days and only found solutions for the Nikon 14-24mm.
Unless the bulging front element and integrated hood is about the same size? which I can't really confirm since they dont have filter threads to publish its sizes...

View the posted videos a few posts above yours. That filter system caters to Samyang 14mm as well.

The other option is to use ND gels inside the camera body.
