135mm samples form three lens....guess...

I had a chance to do a quick test with three lens at 135mm setting with the equivalent exposure setups. Quick and dirty test...

Well...there are slight color differences and also sharpness to a critical level but all resized to 900pixel width for web display and no retouching or sharpening done. A fellow CS judged that they looks really alike. Well let see who could tell them apart...

Lens involve:
- Minolta 135mm f2.8 prime
- Minolta 28-135mm
- Tamron 18-200 @ 135mm.

Here are the photos....so gess which is output form which lens...

Of the three - one is at a slight disadvantage due to shot at its widest which is unstopped.
the 135 Prime was stopped down a few stops to match the f6.7 of the 18-200.
The 28-135 was stopped down a couple to match the f6.7 of the 18-200.
Careful observation can help one to identify the key differences...and find the answer...

It's difficult to judge at this resolution, but anyway:
At the risk of embarrassing myself, the second photo has to be the 18-200mm superzoom. The other two pictures are more difficult to tell. But I would guess the first picture is from the 135mm prime.

Looking at the tyres on the van, photo 1 is 18-200mm

photo 3 seems to be sharper than photo 2.. 135mm prime

or.. looking at the photos again, photo 1 is sharp.. :-?

The constrast on Pic #1 seems suggest it is a 28-135mm

Anyway, what is the aperture and f-stop for all these pictures? Where are you focusing? At least one picture has different focusing point.

All focussed at T-shapped part of van......which is the center.....

Again, at f6.7, the DOF is a bit shallow..
Here is my last prediction seem like I can't make up my mind.. same as my first prediction.. photo 2 & 3 are brighter and more CA & DOF effect.. must be old lens.
