Wow looks like i got the thread started alive again :p

The f2.8 is nice! But once you stop down to f4, not much bokeh as you can see that now you cant really differentiate the leaves on the plant from the leaves in the background...

Actually 2.2 or 2.5 is already very sharp! But its easier to shoot at 2.8 imo. The shallow dof can be tricky..

Yup but once you handled 50mm f1.2, the 135mm at f2 should be a breeze ;) And it can be sharp at f2 as well. The fire hydrant is at f2

Yup. Think 2.8 is probably the easiest aperture to shoot at and still get good bokeh. At f2 sometimes DOF may be a bit thin. Either way a very nice lens

A night shot with this lens:

Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 135 mm
ISO Speed: 4000
Lens Model: EF135mm f/2L USM
Sharpness: 5

for some reason, the vignette I've never had issues with. the CA, well, what can I say.. never bothered me (and I'm picky at times)

Hi Guys ... I am think of getting one but would like to seek your opinion on handling the 135mm f2 since it is NON IS ... will there be camera shake and will it be a problem for a newbie? Thanks :)

Thanks ... Think you are referring to maintain a high shutter speed right? At least 120 or even better at 250 i guess :)

Camera shake occurs as a result of improper technique of holding a camera, nothing to do with the lens. If you are fundamentally sound in this aspect and have very firm hands, this should not pose a problem for you. ;)

Getting 135L is a good way to train for steady hand and you will be ready for the heavier Non-IS 85L later. At f/1.2, there is not much room for shaky hands...
