12 Days Europe Dec 2010 - Switzerland, France & Holland.

You've got a very good taste w.r.t photography... Esp with the way you chose to photograph objects and random scenes. Lovely picture of that leaf. And it is pleasing that you at least had a great time shooting away despite the annoyance from your incompetent tour guide... Great shots bro... Keep it up! Have not been to Europe myself but your stories and pics have made me decide on going this coming year, and of course free and easy, haha! So thanks! ;)

You sure you want to join that tour company I join? No need PM you, it was FiXX Stars Travel.:thumbsd:

Thanks for the compliment! The whole day the sky look dull and gloomy, so have to make do
with whatever that is available for me to shoot.

thanks :bsmilie: i need the info to decide which tour agent "to join"

Haha u have really succeeded in getting your point across about the 'butcherer' tour guide. anyway great european pics. more please.

Haha...hopefully someone from their company see this thread....:bsmilie:

Definitely will upload some more, I still yet to upload Holland freezed sea water photo.

Thanks for the compliment. Actually this is not my style of photography until recently I
stumble upon a great website. I really like the way he compose a photo, without over-do
the bokeh yet there are a lot of story to tell. But my skill set still not up to that kind of
standard yet.

You've had make me feel proud that you decided to go to Europe after seeing my photo.:embrass:

thanks :bsmilie: i need the info to decide which tour agent "to join"

Haha! You are right.

In some way they provide a more economical package with same standard compare to other
establish agency. But maybe is just me, after came back from Tibet trip (self plan) I don't
like group tour anymore.

#65 Welcome to the windmill village of Zaanse Schan. A panaromic view of this freezing land.

#65 Another glimpse of the windmill along the stretch of the river. It is said this place is
windy all year long, that's why since older day they they built a lot of windmill here for
grinding grain to lifting water from an underground well to the surface.

#66 It was so cold that even the plant were covered with layer of frost. And the sight of it
are really fantastic.

#67 Outside weather too cold, let's get indoor to see some beautiful clog up for sale.

#68 Crossing the frozen "longkang"! The kid and adult were trying to cross it without using
the bridge. The water were all frozen up hard, one even can jump up & down on it.

#69 Same as above. I even see people doing ice skating along the waterway.

The Van Gogh is a real person, a street performer, whenever who give tips, they will come
down from the stand & a take a nice picture together. Plenty of them on the street, especially
at the tourist spot.

There was another story about this little boy, while we were busy getting down the bus, this
little boy was busy playing his psp. When all the tour mate board the water taxi and the last
taxi moving away from the jetty, his mother shout out "WHERE IS MY AH BOY?":bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

Lets continue with the journey & forget about the Ah Boy...

#70 Volendams a fishing port. That guy was standing on the lake (initially mislead by my
tour guide as frozen sea, after little research, it was actually a lake). Nevertheless, it was huge.

#71 Fishing boat on the frozen water. Amazing sight as all the boat were like being cast by
"freeze" magic spell, not moving an inch.

#72 The seagull were all well fed by the nearby restaurant, they throw breads to feed the birds.

#73 Lets see what Volendams can offer?

#76 Did you see a little light house?

#77 "Freeze". All the water seems like frozen in an instant.

#78 It was almost sunset at 2pm.

#79 Last glimps on Volendams. Well, I do not have the luxury to wait for the golden
moment, this was the best that I can offer.

If you travel on your own, the kit you mention will be sufficient but minus the flash, you won't
need that. If you travel with group tour, minus the tripod and flash, no chance to use, it only
increase your burden.

Me also first time travel to Europe, so not too sure about the weather by then, probably
need to monitor the forecast on the internet when the date draw near.

3rd Feb? Skipping town to save angpau money, eh?;)

Thanks for the advise, think i'll skip the flash but the tripod ... still need to bring then i can shoot for myself leh and some of the night scenes especially at Paris. :D

great series dude! reminds me of the great europe trip i had last year too!

Finally got time to post again after hectic night shift...

Now, lets heading back to town.

#80 Somewhere in the middle of Dam Square. Too bad didn't have the budget to get a 35mm
or 24mm f1.4, else it won't chop off the rooftop!

#81 One of the many busker in Dam Square. #82 Warming up the cold bench.

#87 This is what I call "mini".

#88 Canal cruise. Traveling on the glass domed water bus to enjoy the canal scenery.
5283273356_f72be0b13c_z.jpg

#89 One can find these house-boat along the canal. People do stay in the house-boat but
some were converted to restaurant.
5283273550_b3b2534cc2_z.jpg

#90 The line. Had spotted quite a lot of migrating bird here. Some travel in V shape but the
distance beyond my lens can reach, this is the nearest I can get.

Before I end my Europe photography journey, would like to share with you what I call "ice
kacang" rain. Maybe the weather were too cold that day, before the rain drop hit the
ground, it turn into tiny drop of ice. The sound of the grinding "ice kacang" ice (not hail
stone) drop on the bowl sound surprised me!

#91 The "ice kacang" rain.

#92 Closer look at the "ice kacang" rain. What you see here is almost the actual size!
