Wouldn't the announcement be made on Sat S'pore time instead of Fri S'pore time?
Normally, they would make these annoucements in the US so if the rumours were true, it would be made tomorrow or past midnight tonight.

I don't think Nikon will release some AF-S prime lense like AF-S 50/1.8 and so on for D40/D40X.

Why?

Because the user group for D40X/D40 is less than amateur, which seldom trends to use prime lenses. For them, Zoom lense is good enough.
