BrownBoots said:Yes it is! except this time it is not CGI and also missing those tornadoes. I like your description on the heaven & earth, it felt like we were rushing to reach that small slit of light in a bid escape getting sandwiched.

#79 Selfoss, North Iceland.
Not to be confused with a town in South Iceland with the same name, this is a waterfall in Jökulsárgljúfur National Park known for it's beautiful long stretch of cascades on the west bank ending with a short hook at the south to the east bank. Unfortunately, Road 864 that leads to the east bank was inaccessible for our 2WD small car (tried and got trapped in a blizzard there few nights earlier), dashing our hopes of that revered west bank view of Selfoss as well as the chance of close proximity to Dettifoss.
Fortunately for that, we are able to experience walking across the top of west bank cascades, carefully threading on the sparsely scattered rocks. Seen here is the hook of Selfoss to the east bank, taken from the top of the west bank cascades.
OMG! this one super nice, can use for wallpaper. Fantastic!!
I'm truly amazed by this thread. Fantastic trip you had. Always wanted to do this myself but always put that thought aside due to money constraint, time constraint and most importantly having many fears like pick pocket, theft, murder, wild animals, thunderstorms, rain, hungers etc...
Did you encounter any situation when you think you were in danger, be it human or natural cause?
Thanks Janet, glad you you loved it. One of my favorite waterfall shot.
hey bro, nice to see you drop in with your comments again. Just to share some of my thoughts, 'constraints' are simply a mental barrier we used to withhold ourselves subconsciously. Nobody will ever have enough money and time, it is just a matter of how we put them to use. You gain some, you lose some. All about your priority in life.
Fears, plenty of it. There were just so many fears prior to the trip that it would never have materialized if we chose to give in to them. Not asking anyone to be fearless and be a rambo but life is all about taking calculated risks, nobody will know for sure what will confirm happen and what will not. Just need take the necessary precautions and manage the fears. Anything that can be solved by money is not a problem; theft, hungers, pickpocket etc. The rest, just do the homework and hope for the best. What can't kill you will only make you stronger. :bsmilie:
Of course crimes like murders cannot be discounted, though I would say is down to 90% luck, 10% course of action. If one is really that unlucky, he/she probably can get murdered here given the rising numbers of bodies discovered in bushes and reservoir. After the campsite shooting incident in Norway, my blood froze when I saw those images... it could very well happened to us. This is how fear plays with our mind, we cannot afford to let one isolated incident to cloud our logical judgement. Back to my senses, I dare say we would have still camp in Norway even the shooting happened before the trip.
There were many situations you could classified as 'danger' though not necessarily lives at risk. However these can all be avoided with the right course of actions with justified risk assessments. The occasions when I thought the situation could spiral out of my control were the volcanic eruption while we were at Jökulsárlón and perhaps getting trapped in a blizzard on the way to Dettifoss just to name a few.
Think I'll write a post about 'Fears' to share in my blog when it is done.![]()
Awesome. Thanks for sharing with us bro . Were you referring to this incident:
