don't think too hard about making money now lah. ur just out of school, about to go into NS. it's going to be a rough two years. then after that still got to go to uni. i guess the best thing you can do for your dad is not to let him worry about you, so he can concentrate on doing his business.
just my point of view lah, but don't spend too much on lenses now - like you said, just save up, don't know where sony is going. also, once you're in army, you may not have so much time to shoot. you've got a good basic setup, enjoy it.
600mm... i remember last time ancient mariner was looking for one. check with him if he still want?
and don't be too glum yah? not used to satayboy so serious...
You gave sound advice. I think satayboy may have had a conscience attack over spending so much on photographic equipment and is torn between consideration for his dad and his desire to expand his range. It is good that he has decided to try and earn some money to purchase equipment on his own though he should heed your advice on spending especially in view of the lack of visibility of Sony's intentions and directions. That goes for me too. I would have jumped at the chance to own that 600mm f4 a few months ago. However, I dislike the way Sony has jacked up prices of the lenses they have released. I am more cautious and will only spend on small value purchases for their system because I now have other considerations. I need a better cam than the A100 but I have waited almost a year and still have no idea if there will ever be one and if so, what it will be like. As each day passes, I am nearer to getting a seperate system for wildlife which can also be used for sports. Afterall, if I am going to spend more than $10K on a lens and some more on accessories for it, I should consider spending another few thou to couple it with a more suitable body. Then, there is still the option from Sigma, at almost the same price, for a 800mm f5.6 which is lighter and more "portable". So whilst I would like to give satayboy a boost, I wouldn't be interested in that lens at the moment.don't think too hard about making money now lah. ur just out of school, about to go into NS. it's going to be a rough two years. then after that still got to go to uni. i guess the best thing you can do for your dad is not to let him worry about you, so he can concentrate on doing his business.

woah..... thanks for the long post. must have taken quite some time.and yeah, dun like the way sony is doing now. so for this period, it will be both of a cooldown period and at the same time, as a backup plan in case sony does break down,
which i hope wun happen.
