my 14 days in Tibet

After some more bum torture, we finally made it to our hotel for the evening....

#67 – Our hotel, seen from Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. It is a very basic 4 story hotel, with no lift !! Our tour leader was very thoughtful, the senior members get to occupy the rooms on the lower floors. Unfortunately, I am not that senior and got myself a room on the highest floor. I forgot to mention, there was no porter in this hotel too! Self-service!

However there is no heater or attached toilets for each room. It is a basic twin beds per room. Toilets are found on 2nd & 3rd floor.
Still there is 4 walls & a roof to cover. Its an interesting experience (memory to recall).

#71 – When I got to my room after numerous stops on the stairs with my belongings, I was very excited as it has a very clear view of Mount Everest. I was even ambitious enough to think that I may be able to set up my tripod at the corner of the balcony outside in the middle of night to take nice star trails with Mount Everest in the background. I guess I shouldn’t ask for too much. A short clear view of Mount Everest is already a blessing and that’s all I will get. The view from my room soon turned to this and it started snowing from around 8 pm that evening, right through the next morning.

Nice photos! I was in Chengdu on 11 June with my friends, all ready to go tibet. But sadly, we were informed at the very last min by the tour agent that we were denied entry into tibet due to the tibet autonomous region celebration. Visas are not approved to all foreigners. In the end, we travelled along the western sichuan (Danba, Tagong, Litang, Daocheng, Yading) which is also a tibetan region. In fact, these places are very less touristy and equally beautiful. Met a lot of friendly tibetans who told us about the sad history and problems faced by them in china.

Woah...nice and expansive sceneries:bigeyes:views of your Tibet-trip...

Thanks for sharing...;)

Thanks :) Our trip was almost affected too when they announced the closure from Mar to May but as later postponed to Jul. Sorry to hear that your trip was affected by such but am glad that the places you went are also very nice....they are also on my want-to-visit list :) I suppose you still wish to make a trip to Tibet in near future :)

You are damn good, man!
This kind of scene also your eyes can find it and your photographic skills can capture it.
佩服佩服 bow bow bow...!

Haha, you think too highly of me. The scene was there for me to capture and I merely 硬硬来 and 敢敢来 during post processing :)

#76 – We all tried very hard to make him smile. Gave him candy, cookies and even made funny faces….finally, he smiled but only for that very short while.
