    Sigma 30mm f/1.4 User Group

9 point focus on non uniformly arranged pairs of eyes? i dont think that'll work, since 9 points is referring to the number of points that can be used for focus, and not referring to using 9 different areas of varying focus... i'm old school and use single point in the middle, focus, and...

    Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 or Tamron 28-70mm f 2.8?

nah, poor choice of words. just indicating that when i used the tamron, it was on a nikon, and the sigma was on a canon. both are 3rd party lenses that would have performed the same way on each brand, and my experience was happier when using the tamron.

    D500X?

The D3s does this at 720p already. At 1080p would be more interesting... otoh, my interest in this camera is as a still camera, not a video camera.

    Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 or Tamron 28-70mm f 2.8?

yep, goes to 75. in terms of the 5mm difference, i didnt really notice it. i found the sigma zoom ring quite stiff

    Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 or Tamron 28-70mm f 2.8?

ran the tamron on a nikon, and the sigma on a canon. the sigma was slow, clunky, clumsy, and generally a disappointment. tamron was light, fast, smooth, and quite sharp. its build quality [plasticky] is the only thing that lets it down compared to sigma, but that also in part leads to it being...

    Sigma 30mm f/1.4 User Group

first, you should realise that f2 is still quite shallow. the sweet spot of that lens is 4-5.6 and a couple of stops down thereafter. and even then, the sharpness is concentrated in the center first. secondly, if you still want to shoot multiple subjects using a shallow depth of field, then the...

    Sigma 30mm f/1.4 User Group

tbh, i've had this lens for several years - first as a main on my D2X, and now on my D700, despite the vignettng on FX sensors. and, yeah, i've always thought mine had some form of focussing issues, at some point. not always. i thought it a fairly inconsistent lens. it hasnt put me off using it...

    Nikon FX walk about lens

DX - is a sensor size smaller than 35mm film size. FX - is a sensor size that is equal or very close to 35mm film size. [For Nikon, everything but the D3X,D3s, D3 and D700 have DX sized sensors] the impact is that DX sensors do not see all of the image circle that FX/full frame/35mm lenses...

Do you approach, ask and shoot?

photoman posted a good response. also, the illegal advice posted earlier, whilst it varies from country to country - germany and france amongst the most stringent regarding privacy - is incorrect. as zac08 and mabmy correctly state it is not illegal to shoot on public grounds, members of the...

    EN-EL4A battery

Tried a 3rd party charger before. Not worth it. Just didnt work. Also tried Chinese made EN-EL4's, which worked okay. For 6 months, before dying. I use my En4's from my D2 bodies and they're definately worth it. The chargers are very expensive, but I think if you want the benefit, you may...
