Rules rules rules, the clubsnap way

Puting aside any perceived squabble from my part, let me voice out objectively on the critique's corner. Why do we post our photos and be subjected to criticism --> We aim to improve on our photo shooting skill and not make the same mistake. We do it openly in a forum as fellow photographers may...

of course i want to make this public. i have nothing to hide. in fact, i am generating more traffic for Clubsnap. This is just so anti-photography-learning for a newbie like me. What damaged have i done by accidently just posting anopther picture?

and just now i got another PM: "a picture's worth is only determined by the creator. the purpose of the rules is to force each poster to self-reflect on what is best to put up for critique. it's not allowable that members keep changing pictures they put up for critique. if you want to read...

Rules rules rules, the clubsnap way

I know what follows may well get myself into hot soup with the moderators here, or probably even getting myself banned here. but i feel unjust with the words put through to me, in private. I posted a picture of my 1 week old son in the critique corner and gotten a few honest feedback. Intent...

agreed...right limp was not captured fully, did not really have the time nor composure to analyse the whole viewfinder during that time, and as for focusing, i guess i might have tried to focus in between the eyes but just lost it in order to capture THE moment :)

Hi, thanks for your input was using a 50mm prime (1.8) at 2.2 Av and yes camera is a 1.6x. you are right to say no flash was used and ISO was at 400. camera is a 450D. The baby is 4 days old and at the crucial moment to capture the smile which is rare, i barely had a split second to adjust...

Hi All. The above is the reason why i recently got a DSLR. This is one of my first attemps in "portait" shots. IMO, i would prefer the whole head to be in focus rather than just the mouth and nose. I do not know the reason why the eyes and above are not in focus....lens too near to subject...

hmm.....i highly doubt that i will go into the L lenses :) any idea is the end result of a Hoya vs a B+W significant, assuming all other parameters are the same? sorry if my questions sound stupid :embrass:

Thanks Estel. I would love the 1.4, but as a newbie and not too financially endowed, i have since bought the 1.8. i like it better as compared to the kit lense 18-55mm. in short, cheap and good

    Brands of CPL

For a newbie, is it necessary to get a branded CPL like B+W or Heliopan? Or would a simple Hoya or Kenko be sufficient? i know it is not a big amount of money, but i am in the phase of start-up cost, which is a sudden spike in my expenditure. :o

    Is it fact or myth?

having worked closely with Chinese factories, i second the above.
