S90. It's a very good camera for most situation if you decided not to bring you DSLR. Just remember to set your flash to off and not Auto.

I also have problem with the Sanyos 2100, 2500. Can only hold charge for few days. I have about 20 of them.;( The Sony betteries are a lot better. Now trying out powerex 2700, Bought from Eastgear.

For bird shooting you need 300mm and above.

The 420ex support ETTL you can shoot with flash at any shutter speed. Plase refer to your manual.

No need to be sad. Get another battery (OEM $30). :)

I am now in Beijing, sub-zero temperature. I am using original canon lense. I also encounter same problem when taking photos outdoor. Though it is was too cold. Got to switch off and on frequently to continue taking photos.:dunno:

The Ixus is very compact and looks nice. However it maybe too small for big hands. Yes you can buy one or two extra batteries to bring along for tour. In that case you have to swap it when you need to charge it thru the camera. For the A75 & A80 they use AA batteries and you can charge it...

A60 is $400 includsive of a set of rechargable battery+ charger. I bought at Cathy a few months back. I am working on construction site, I find the A60 is good enough for day to day use. If you get a A80 how many time will you need to set the camera at the highest resolution? :)
