    Sigma 30mm f1.4 or Olympus 35mm f3.5?

Has anyone taken a portrait (adult half body or shoulder shot) with the 35mm wide open - with samples to show? I have been thinking of this lens as a budget portrait lens but am not too sure about the depth of field of the lens - and I am not able to get my hands on one for testing... TIA!

how about a little fun? :)

Considering that it is only remotely possible one would be able to situate at a high point where you can take a photo of a buddha statue directly from the top, I would go for option (A).

US carrier Docking in Singapore ???

Had the privilege of going onto the KittyHawk when they called into port before heading to the gulf couple of years back. It was due to a friend's connection with an official within the carrier. We were introduced to the operations of the different departments of the ship, with the most...

Looks like the prospects of a 3 mega-pixel washing machine might not be too absurd an idea after all... :bsmilie: Oly-Panasonic new Technology: Supersonic Swoosh...

    E300 review is out!!!

The last I looked at my list of Things to Buy, I found the refridgerator and the washing machine a couple of notches above the E300. Unless the camera can keep my food and clothes fresh, plus delivery the quality of the pictures you have demonstrated, it will probably take a while before I can...

    E300 review is out!!!

Nightpiper & Chancy My sincere appreciation for sharing your experiences. At this stage, I am no more than an armchair theorist with regards to the E300 as I not yet privileged enough to own one... Yet. I am looking forward to contributing my experience to this forum when I get the chance to...

    E300 review is out!!!

What do you think about the potential of shooting RAW+Jpeg, converting the RAW with ACR and use Adobe colour match to calibrate the processed RAW to match the jpeg?

    E300 review is out!!!

A question for all you friendly Oly owners: With regards to the excellent colour and saturation rendition (albeit slushy details) of the Oly's JPEG images, and the capability to achieve exceptionally high level of detail when one shoots RAW and proceed them with some of the softwares...

    Tsunami - anyone affected?

Stumbled upon this rather interesting bit of statistic. The incidence of major EQ (> 7) has been fairly consistent in the last couple of years. This trend has been observed for the past 100 years since 1900.

    Tsunami - anyone affected?

A little more information on EQ and Tsunamis: 1) Not all submarine earthquakes causes tsunamis. Quoting from an article off the New York Times: There is no direct connection between an earthquake magnitude and a resulting tsunami. Not all quakes under the ocean lift the ocean floor to...

E-300 and ED 50mm f/2.0 Macro Test Shots

I believe they might likely be talking about jpegs and in-camera processing, evident from this quote from the thread: "Sheesh do Oly need to get with the Program and release some decent in-camera processing firmware for the E300 .." Remember Jono Slack, the jpeg lover of the E1? I woud love...
