For those vacillating between 14bit or 12bit, this recent article might give some further insights. Think I will probably stick to 12bit to save some storage space, and use 14bit only if I need to do some extreme shadow recovery on high contrast image.... ;p...

I am rather curious about the distortion you mention of the 17-55. What is the 'horrible' thing about it? Is it geometric distortion? Can you tell from a normal picture, say a portrait or a landscape shoot? I am still trying to learn how much lens distortion is required before it is rather...
