You can't really do macro with the kit lens. The minimum focusing distance is pretty large. The AF also seems to be unable to focus when you reach the minimum distance. The closest you can get is to zoom in and use manual focus.

I find that if I were to use the 35mm, I would have to stay pretty far back and that isn't even useful in crowded or space restricted situations.

do you guys think the two years extended warranty got any use? zzzz...

orchard road is a pretty good place to capture night shots now due to all the performances and events this time round of the year.

Actually i'm quite curious. under what kind of situations will it start to hunt? Cos usually when I half-depress the button, the beep sound comes on almost instantly, with the green box.

Just got my XE-1 18-55 finally! Wow, the AF is blazing fast, even in low light, and taking pictures in low light has never been easier. Image quality is fantastic as well and I got the hang of operating the camera easily. The Q menu was really good. I just can't understand why people said the AF...
