get the tamron 18-250mm or the pentax 18-135mm, if budget allows. (their prices are pretty close) if not, get the tamron/sigma 18-200mm. another option is to get used 18-250 for around $500

I have a Pentax 18-250 and it takes really nice shots in daylight. It's a great travel lens. pair it up with a fast prime lens for indoor or night shots. Most folks would recommend the 18-250 if you can afford it over the 18-200. The IQ of the 18-250 is better.
