Travelling, normally prefer wide angle. But if once in a lifetime trip, will drag the 70-200 2.8 II along. Heavy but very good lens.

Finally revisiting my old photos after a long break from practising. On 7D, way better with 17-55 than with the 24-105. Thought I wanted the reach, ended up missing the short end even more. Again, its just my preference .. now wondering what to do with my 24-105.;p

I just need to ask. It's really an ackward design, more like a plumbing tool than a L lens from Canon. When I zoomed it, the way it extended was really ... :dunno:. I am sure the quality is good ... But it's to me and at the moment, one of Canon's 'less attractive pieces'.

So, this is a confirmed problem for all 24-105s ? Yikes ... got mine recently, any chance Canon would have fixed the issue for recent batches ? I better go try it out extensively at smaller apertures. ;(

So far, most lenses still on international warranty, for a 24-105 from TC for winter holiday this year (don't want to risk my 17-55). Prices do seem to be a little higher, maybe adjusting to the low HKD. And weather was hot hot hot ... strange.:sweat:

Was at a company function and the photographer was using 70-200 mk 2, 24-70 + a sigma lens for wa. Personally, I have the 70-200 mk 2 & 17-55. But problem when it starts to drizzle when I am on the 17-55, have to run for cover ... thinking of getting a 24-105 just for slight rain & snow but I...

Don't misunderstand. But such questions have almost no answers ... I have often discussed why we chose specific brands with my fellow colleagues. Gets us nowhere. Best solution, get both. You would then need deep pockets for good lenses from both brands + the mother of all dry cabinets. :think:

They are not kind to newbies. I still go to hem for the accessories, no longer for lenses because I felt they do not help you get what you need. Walk in looking blur, short end of the stick. But other than that, all the stuff I got from them are ok.

Use whatever lenses u have, maybe try to be creative ... Hopefully Canon releases a mk2 for their 100-400 next year. Then problem solved, shd have better is (maybe even his), better iq, etc ... Guessing only but current options are limited.If u really need to buy now, u have to them and see if...

Late convert. Blackrapid rs5. Did an all day event for company ... Used with 17-55 & 70-200 f/2.8 ml 2, 7d sometimes with 580ex2. Bye bye kata, lowepro & crumpler.:thumbsup:

1.4 iii tc to go with my 70-200 mk2, but depends on reviews if it improves the af significantly compared to existing 1.4 ii tc. 70-300 because I need replacement for my 70-300 as weather resistance is important. Still sore no 100-400 replacement or rumored 100-300 f4.;p

Spot on, love this lens but only when u have enough light. Otherwise, you'd be frustrated with the aperture and af, micro usm is nowhere as fast as the af speed a ring sum like the L will bring. But with good light and static 'objects', personally, I like the pics it gives me.

70-300 f4-5.6L IS ?? Awww, dissappointing. Was really hoping more for a 100-300 f4L IS. Dunno what they are planning with an affordable L ? What is an affordable L ?:(

COnfirmed TK photo has loads of stock. Got a set of GND + holder today and Richard had a whole box of filters (full).:)
