Another important aspect of D80 is to counter Sony's A100. Since Sony already openly declared it's intention to replace Nikon's no 2 spot. Nikon doesn't want to be sitting duck. It's a good move by Nikon to disrupt Sony's party. I think the price of D80 will be attractive. :)

Lens with this range usually tend to be soft on the wide. However, Nikon has made this len exceptional. I was impressed the first time I saw the sample pics. :) http://www.bythom.com/18200lens.htm

I guess this is partly because in most product ratings, price occupies a higher percentage points. Hence it has higher influence on the overall scores. :)

James, I have 5700 and sold my 8400 away recently. In image sense, 5700's better, but it is slow in every way compared to 8400. 8400 is faster, less shutterlag, and can use SB-800 to give excellent image. I like the 24mm very much. Nevertheless, it is still good buy if the price is right...

Actually Olympus does provide worldwide warranty for digital cameras. See their new terms wef 1/4/2004 http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/info/info20040319.cfm However, honoring the terms is another issue.:)

Kenko Pro 300 1.4x TC works fine with AFD 80-200 f2.8, details will deteriorate beyond that. AFS 70-200VR will be better at handling Nikon 2x TC.:)
