Yeah I know. OT a bit, what's your take on having both 5D2 and 7D; which one would you carry with you for travel if you can only take one camera body? I'm also thinking of getting 5Dm3 if it's out next year; gotta collect FF lens.

Why not canon make 10mm-200mm f/1.2L IS USM? Bet we need a lorry to carry our stuff. haha. Back to 17-55 with 500D. It actually fits quite well but I suppose you'll need grip to balance it out. Overall, I can say that I prefer 500D with 18-55 kit rather than 7D with 17-55 for the weight...

17-55 on 7D with BG-E7 grip (both batteries inserted) weights around 2kg. Very nice in your hands and steady when shooting. Shouldn't be an issue for most guys unless you are travelling and want to reduce due to long hours of walking (carrying your gf's bag as well, etc) ;)
